Naturally, when it came time to pay my own tribute to this subgenre, I set it in New York and called it New York

nowadays I couldn't be less about wheel of time, but I did read a lot of it in high school and one thing it's instilled in me is that more fantasy should be set in an almost unrecognizable future (gene wolfe of course took the same idea to levels rarely seen).
