I've only been logging on to check my mentions lately, but I did have to post this W.H. Auden captcha. "Choose all the clocks/select the telephone/click on the squares that show a juicy bone..."

Incredible lineup for our trans event at Lit Crawl this Saturday! Also, it's at Silver Sprocket, so you can buy comics before/during/after the reading -- a truly ideal combination.

Ad for cassette of music for your "walk-woman," from a 1996 Imperial Queens & Kings of NY, LI, & NJ newsletter. Working on this for an upcoming online collection from the Center, New York's LGBTQ archives. Full name and address redacted for the creator's privacy; hope she's still singing out there.

every photo taken of me on this trip reminds me that I look these days like a little beakless bird who is always chortling, and I'm coming to terms with that because I did not enjoy the waifcore days of my twenties (and early thirties) (and late thirties)

NEW YORKERS: I'm flying TO YOU for a book event on August 20 at P&T Knitwear, with Mattie Lubchansky and Calvin Kasulke! This is a dream lineup for me, I get to share the stage with two brilliant people, and I hope you can come! www.eventbrite.com/e/book-talk-...

The blurb in question. I absolutely meant every word of this.

Working with digitized photos from the astonishing Don Paulson and Skippy LaRue collection at UW, which chronicles the lifelong friendships of old-school drag performers from a Seattle venue called the Garden of Allah. This drag wedding photo! digitalcollections.lib.washington.edu/digital/coll...

I made the intersection of art and politics in Notes from a Regicide as insane and on-the-nose as I dared, but last night I googled "mummy brown" and remembered that history will always have you beat

I'm finding things to celebrate so I can keep going right now, so I'm not even posting this in a spirit of promo (I'm sure all my followers know I have a damn book coming out), just in a spirit of "I'm proud I got a hat trick of starred reviews in the trades": www.kirkusreviews.com/book-reviews...

I'm very excited to report that Booklist has just made Notes From a Regicide their Review of the Day! The librarians like it. Making this logo into a sticker and pasting it onto my forehead.

Obligatory Notes from a Regicide unboxing video! An absolutely gorgeous book, hadn't really predicted just how opulently blue it is. Preorder: us.macmillan.com/books/978125...

Another great trade review for Notes from a Regicide, this one from Booklist (⭐): "A triumphant and blistering chronicle of found family, love, and resistance. Brimming with wit and queer joy [...] For readers of Catherine Lacey's Biography of X and Justin Torres' Blackouts."

Min Goto has burst through the wall with our final Notes from a Regicide character sketch. This is Griffon, our sharp but brittle journalist who's trying to reconstruct his late parents' over-the-top, revolutionary lives. Always waiting for some kind of emergency in which he can prove himself.

New character commission from the great @bluedelliquanti.bsky.social. Here's Zaffre, a woman everyone wants to idealize -- to make a folk hero or perfect mother -- in her real element, pushing through the mental cobwebs and dissociating herself into a new painting.

The first in a series of character portraits from Notes from a Regicide that I commissioned "for promo" ("for fun"). @egallagher.bsky.social read my mind. This is Etoine, art fabricator, wife guy, gleam of madness in his eye almost imperceptible, once did one (1) murder but it was a really key one.

Bizarre to be promoting a book right now, when everyone's struggling and I'd rather be invisible. Still, this has been twelve years in the making. It's my favorite of my books so far, and it's about trans people and artists and writers, trying to meet their devastating times by loving each other.

In a starred review, Publishers Weekly calls Notes from a Regicide "prescient, emotionally nuanced, and remarkably well told." If those are the adjectives you love to hear, let me gently wrap this preorder link around your shoulders: us.macmillan.com/books/978125...
