How can the NYT have as its lead story garbage about Santos and not the millions of marchers protesting Trump. Santos is nothing but a sad footnote.

Trump - history will acknowledge Trump by assigning the name “Trump” a new meaning. Just as history made the name Quisling a universal synonym for “traitor”. “Trump” will become a synonym for a mean spirited, antidemocratic, destructive force.
One can hope anyway!

With their attempt to indict Democrats for tormenting violence with their rhetoric the Trump administration has reached the singularity of hypocrisy.

It is odd to be driving around Blue Oregon as if nothing is happening when everyday there are reports of something unthinkable. The news buzzes around almost as if it’s corporeal. It is as if the air is filled with a swarm of shouting yellowjackets each with a new stinging insult to decency.

Is this headline clever hidden satire by the Washington Post headline writer? It’s a real headline.

After week of market turmoil, Trump and Cabinet reconnect with UFC fans.

Portland, Oregon “hands off march”, “thousands.”

All of Portland Oregon’s major firms signed the Amicus brief challenging the Trump executive order targeting law firms. Nationwide 500 law firms have signed on exposing the money driven cowardice of the firms that have shamefully capitulated.

What do the R’s really want? An America safe for the rich? A white Christian nation? The word Christian is hard to fathom when the administration supported by the Congress has not done a single thing that reflects a hint of humanity. They are inhumane to their core. So there!

The use of antisemitism as a cudgel to bring universities to ruin is of course a subterfuge to unleash resentment and hostility to education. It is also ironic given the status education was given in my home and the Jewish home of everyone I knew and everyone I know now.

Skadden Arps caves to Trump’s unconstitutional threats. How do they sleep. We may be in 1933 Germany territory but so what - better to protect their $5.4 million dollars per partner. Shameful, stomach churning cowardice. Money, money, money, not even a pretense that anything else matters.

Sports don’t seem to be a big topic here but somebody has to say it. The obvious influence of DEI in the NCAA basketball tournament is shameful!

No winning for Columbia by giving in. Who would go there. There are other choices although like major law firms maybe universities will countenance fascism. It wasn’t a good choice in Germany, Italy, or anywhere else. Apparently the history departments don’t have enough influence!

Headline in the Guardian - White House says Trump is right to call for impeachment of ‘partisan judges’- let’s talk about Judge Aileen Cannon - what good lord are Trump appointed judges? You can’t make this stuff up.

I have read all I need to know about Trump and Musk today. It is amazing how quickly they are gutting American medicine, academia, National Parks, safeguards of any kind. Will people accept this two years from now. Clearly, many voters are ignorant of how good government protects them

How anyone (not a fascist) could now buy a Tesla now is beyond the pale. Musk’s recent retweet of a tweet that blamed the deaths during the regimes of Hitler, Stalin, and Mao on “public sector workers” is reprehensible. Are we supposed to fear those Dept. of Education workers , the evil EPA workers?
March 14, 2025 at 6:39 PM
I’ve been faltering in my attempts to avoid Trump. The administration is just cruel, callous, mean, and heartless. Trying to describe them requires opening the thesaurus for words meaning inhumane. Every word enshrined by Trump’s agenda, nowhere a hint of human kindness.

The Republican war on the sick, the needy, the endangered will be catastrophic for many and cost lives here and abroad. Ethically the purveyors of this outrage are not far different than those who pull a trigger with real guns. The Republican War on decency has no bottom.

The way Trump is suppressing black history, women’s history, LBGT history coupled with taking control of the government is how Nazi Germany’s and Stalin’s propaganda machines worked before their brutal murdering of millions. I don’t fear that yet, but I fear where the impulse will lead.
February 21, 2025 at 1:36 AM
In order to secure control of government Stalin purged his diplomatic corps and other high government officials. His methods may have been more brutal but this appears to be precisely what Musk and Trump are doing. It is a purge and coup. One can only hope the court’s make a difference.

Trump, Musk, and Republicans see the role of government to enrich the rich and not to enhance Americans well being.
The damage to the infrastructure will soon begin to show cracks and in another year catastrophes. Then it will be then up to voters, if allowed to vote.

Trump’s sitting down with Putin and excluding Zelensky is horrible. It’s as though in 1940, Lindbergh won the presidency and sat down with Hitler, excluding Churchill, to negotiate a treaty with Germany, threatening to withdraw all aid to England if Churchill refused the deal, which he would have.
February 13, 2025 at 6:03 PM
It has been the Republican’s goal to undo the safety net of the federal government since the New Deal. Their perfidy makes me wish I believed that after they leave this earth there would be comeuppance for their sadistic, selfish, cruel assault on decency.

Why is it necessary for me to read the final seconds of those on the D.C. plane crash?
January 31, 2025 at 5:31 PM
Trump and the Heritage Foundation, not his MAGA marks who are clueless about what government does, would like to destroy the already insufficient safety net. It is a cruel vision infused by racism, disregard for the lives of others here and worldwide and the corrosive dream of a white American.

Birthright citizenship - without it none of my grandparents would have been citizens. Since we were East European Jews that would have been just dandy with today’s cult Republicans.
