when you pick a line of dialog, no matter how inconsequential, you are engaging with the game, the npcs, and the designers.

and you don’t feel alone playing a game. you feel like it’s made by people. i think that affect is important to analyze and harness, especially in this age of loneliness.

In all seriousness, I think this is excellent enough to stand with the modern heavyweights of the genre. It's *that* good, and the presentation rivals modern day TypeMoon (not FGO), too.

i have only really played 7 and then watched a bunch of cutscenes from other ones but from what i can tell, Ace Combat is at its best when it is written like a melodramatic mecha show but instead of robots they simply have real-ass planes

i enjoyed 13 enough at the time and never played the sequels but i've heard enough interesting things about specifically lightning returns that i'm always considering it during any given steam sale
