Latest book review. Five stars. It’s probably not for everyone - there’s a lot of medical terminology and descriptive clinical procedures - but the last few chapters had me bawling like a baby.

Thank f**k the proposal for a tunnel from CBD to Wellington airport has been scrapped - but not until about $1.7m has been spent on consultancy. It was madness from the start.

Seems like:

(a) It was a mistake to shut down the Government Chief #Privacy Officer; and

(b) The advice provided by IRD's privacy officer on these issues needs to be published; and

(c) A government-wide review of agencies doing targeted advertising on FB, LinkedIn and other platforms is needed.
When the NZ government says 'trust us' to handle personal data properly, you can see I'm sceptical.

"Inland Revenue provided Facebook owner Meta with the names, addresses and other contact details of 268,000 taxpayers in “raw” unencrypted form, its chief executive Peter Mersi has admitted."

My opinion - TVNZ Location Location Location NZ should be renamed Location Location Location Auckland. Also the presenters are trying too hard to be funny, and it's not working. Channel surfing is my next option.

The up is downism of these people. They've deliberately laid off thousands and cancelled projects that will cause thousands more to lose their jobs. And now they're blaming beneficiaries for being unemployed, and Labour of course because everything is always Labour's fault.
Benefit forecasts highlight need for tougher sanctions, government says
The government says the latest figures forecasting how long beneficiaries stay on welfare underscore the need for tougher sanctions.

There is an enormous difference between government spending that returns to local communities, and funneling public cash to corporates.

The value difference between government funds going to locals vs international corporates must surely be quantifiable and factored into spending decisions.

The change means between 15 and 17 FreshChoice staff will lose their jobs."

Hawkes Bay to Manawatū Road maths. Summary:
1. Not enough vehicles to toll (<10,000 AADT)
2. Longer route/time so users won't use it anyway.
3. Toll $ income won't even pay for the interest fees on the capital cost.

Waka Kotahi good at maths? I don't think so.

#nzpol
Ok so Waka Kotahi think that the replacement road between HB and Manawatū will carry over 11,000 vehicle movements per day. Important to remember- can’t toll below 10k a day.
Let us have a look at THEIR numbers shall we. Cause we can.

This article is so detached from reality. Assuming someone on a $50k salary can save a quarter of it. That's $42,200 after tax. $811.53 a week. Saving a quarter leaves you with $608 a week. No one can live on that. You can’t buy a house. Rent would eat most of that.
