For some reason, our cosmos (in the Welsh uplands) flower mostly in the summer. There's a temple in Nara that's known for its cosmos, and when I was there in June I was a bit disappointed to discover I was ~5 months too early.

At some point in the future (in the best possible timeline) important people are going to say they didn't know, couldn't known, didn't imagine what was happening to anyone taken by ICE. Let's make it explicit: they know. Maybe not the precise details, but the broad tenor. They know.

I think the "there are no adults" phenomenon is fairly universal, but in my experience UK HE is astonishingly and increasingly bureaucratic. My theory is that the absence of a clear metric for success means the institution just whorls around in circles of increasingly pointless make work.
