I like cats and dogs and politics and cities and bikes.
In Manhattan in particular, this is an overhang of the black swan event of there being lots of vacant old warehouses that artists converted into studio lofts in the 1970s. Those days are gone and that’s okay!

They also added badges and nags about badges. I’d probably pay an extra dollar a month to get rid of them.

“Africa” has me cracking up. Yeah, the second-largest continent, famous for both its world’s-largest desert and its rainforests, among many other things, looks exactly like Big Sur.

My understanding is that the mayor could legally take authority over the MTA forever by just saying so but no mayor has so far done so.

So far SJSU’s kicker has only kicked with his eastern foot, so he switches depending on which end of the field they’re on. @sickoscommittee.org fyi

Well SJSU threw a pass from their end zone that was immediately deflected then caught by a SJSU player who was immediately tackled for a safety and now Air Force gets to run a 2-minute drill instead. Air Force has 138 rush yards and zero pass yards today.

My popcorn container was designed so that when you finish you can tear off the bottom and use it as a megaphone. Brilliant.

“Does not endorse candidates” lol sure

They did! And new elections are coming up in the next couple months so you should join so you can vote if you’re in the area.

The SF Bay chapter has had pro-housing leadership for the last couple years and the national org is pretty good on housing, but the California org still needs work.

I was in Budapest with friends for New Years a decade ago, and on New Years Day, with a splitting headache, we managed to wander away from the nicely restored tourist areas and into gray, freezing cold, ruined neighborhoods. Bleak barely begins to describe it.

Comic Sans is the most dyslexia-friendly widely-used font, so that makes a certain amount of sense.

I mean, we have schools in my walkable neighborhood but pick up and drop off with cars can still be kinda messy. I don’t think it’s necessarily bad to plan around it, especially since otherwise they might impact transit operations by getting in the way of the bus
November 7, 2025 at 5:59 PM
“Kiss and ride” is a pretty common term in American transit. The DC Metro has a bunch of them, for example. Whether it should be called something else is a fine discussion to have, but that seems separate from your objection to planning for car drop-offs at the station.

I mean, it’s straightforwardly bad policy to put all the new housing on commercial corridors. They should upzone the entire neighborhood. Most people don’t want to live on commercial corridors; they want to live near them.
