(Well, they can learn social interaction IRL, but netiquette doesn't translate 1:1 with real life etiquette)

The blanket ban on under-16s from all online services will only serve to delay their social development! Instead of learning social etiquette between the ages of 13 and 16, they'll be learning it between the ages of 16 and 19, and that can only be a bad thing.

which thing?

A better solution would be somewhere in the middle, in my opinion. Have the state provide support for people, but allow free private property and business to incite growth and innovation. And progressively tax income so that bigger businesses pay more than small ones.

(I may have exaggerated a little bit, though. But still)

I never counted WW2 casualties in my previously stated estimate of "hundreds of millions of people killed" figure. Instead, I counted:
- Great Purge (Stalin, ~700K)
- Holodomor (Stalin, ~4M)
- Great Leap Forward (Mao, ~40M)
- Cultural Revolution (China, estimated millions)

How about @don.twink.ie (don't wink)

If you don't have innovation, then you stagnate, that's what happened in the USSR and Eastern Bloc - people badly wanted (and fought to obtain) foreign goods because the state-industry provided ones were outdated and of poor quality.

Historically, at least tens of millions. If not hundreds of millions. They died from famines, being sold as slaves and exhausted to death, pillaged for their loot, killed by bombings during wars etc.

I am NOT saying that capitalism is in any way "good". But communism isn't better.

(And not with all jihad, just the terroristic "I want Sharia law in your country" jihad)
November 11, 2025 at 11:11 AM
For example, the 9/11 attacks were performed in the name of Jihad, and I believe there is something wrong with the concept of jihad because of that. Likewise with communism.
November 11, 2025 at 11:11 AM
Fine, fine, "there was no true communism". Happy? However that does beg the question - I think that if there were so many people killed in the name of an ideology, then there's something wrong with said ideology.
November 11, 2025 at 11:11 AM
Primarily famines (The Great Leap Forward, Holodomor, etc), forced labor (Gulags), and generally restrictions on human rights.
November 11, 2025 at 9:56 AM
(I also hate the concept of jihad, as it's only been used to oppress and terrorize.)
November 11, 2025 at 6:59 AM
If thousands of people were killed in the name of an ideology I'd think the ideology itself has something to do with it. For example, I don't have anything to do with Islam or Muslims, but I hate Sharia law and I would fight against it being applied in my country at all costs.
November 11, 2025 at 6:58 AM
Still, hundreds of millions of people were killed in the name of communism, so I'd think the ideology itself is bad. Capitalism is at least not a totally utopian ideology created by a naïve person that would never work in real life.
November 11, 2025 at 6:58 AM
You're about to argue that "there was never real communism". Good point, because communism was never reached, all those states were just aiming at it. A communist state is, in theory, a utopia which would never work in real life because of human nature. You cannot have "real communism".
November 11, 2025 at 6:58 AM
But DO NOT make the mistake of saying communism is good, because it's not. It's one of the most murderous ideologies out there, with hundreds of millions of people who were killed.

The police state is SEVERELY restrained in my country.

And for the record: I DO NOT live in the USA. I've been keeping a close eye on the US' degradation and I know it's getting significantly worse for everybody now.

You would've been sent to rot in prison for getting an abortion just forty years ago. You had no rights as a non-hetero person, nor as a minority (we have a sizable Hungarian minority here which was heavily oppressed including forced relocations).
November 11, 2025 at 6:52 AM
My grandparents live in the countryside (and so their houses are probably inherited). My parents worked incredibly hard to buy their own apartment, and later, house. They did not receive anything for free. Minorities DID NOT have more rights in my country than they do today.
