Bill it as a revitalization campaign and a jobs program.

Seems awfully expensive for an email writing machine

I know nothing about the WaPo workflow. But if an editor told her to look into the reactions by right-wing “influencers,” her hands may have been largely tied.

One would think an esteemed reporter wouldn’t be assigned to cover such drivel, but this is Bezos’ WaPo, so …

On MS NOW, the “progressive” news channel, they’re referring to National Guardsmen as ”law enforcement” and thanking them for keeping DC safe. So your very important point is seemingly already lost among our nation’s highest-paid TV newsmakers.

It is cruel and incredibly wasteful to deploy the NG like this. It's an insult to their time and value and only amplifies the danger they face.

And for what? What are the benefits we're getting from the incredible cost of this occupation?
November 26, 2025 at 10:08 PM
Another 500 to guard the ones that were already there? What is the endgame here, the exit strategy? How much is this occupation costing and what is it actually accomplishing? This is total insanity.

And yet they’ll act horribly insulted by the very implication that the NYT might show some bias in its reporting.

She says whatever she’s paid to say. This just means some Republican lobbyist is feeding her lines.

Part of the problem is that so few of the reporters in the WHPC are actually "reporters" anymore. Most are people that prioritize their invites to the elites' cocktail parties and/or unabashed propagandists.

Thanks for talking down to me, Miriam, your point was definitely boosted by the condescension

Very well could be both, although scrubbing the files will be hamhanded at best and awfully fraught, considering the likelihood that other copies exist.

But it was definitely Trump trying to get in front of an inevitability and pretending it was his idea all along.

What makes it even more pathetic is that he was clearly trying to show off for the Saudi prince.

Criticizing a reporter for asking an "insubordinate question" is a hell of a thing for an American president.
November 18, 2025 at 8:01 PM
That's an incredible deal for the criminals. They either get away with everything and get to live out their days in their overseas palaces, or they just give back what they've stolen and get a mulligan?

If I had a magic wand I'd go for something sterner, to say the least.

She looks like she hasn't slept in days.

She sounds like it too, trying to pass off such absurd fantasy as serious thought.

He doesn't understand a single thing about how normal people think and live, other than a lot of Americans are racist as all hell.

I'm also very tired of our nation's MBAs presuming everybody else should love "negotiating" as much as they do.

Without “retaliation” — what society might otherwise describe as “accountability” — we will 100% be doomed to repeat these horrors within a decade.

Besides, it’s false that nobody wants to work in a “war zone.” Especially ambitious lawyers and bureaucrats.
November 18, 2025 at 1:05 PM
Hell, we tried that in 2009 and 2021 when the Obama and Biden administrations decided to let the Bush and Trump administrations off the hook in the interest of “bipartisanship” and “looking ahead, not behind.” A lack of accountability only emboldens fascists.

Maduro already essentially offered that. Trump ignored it and moved more navy ships into the region.

Projection is a reflex for conservatives. That's why they hammered the Epstein stuff so hard and made up Pizzagate and everything else.

I can do a Google search for diabetic recipes right now, and it also enables me to see the source of those recipes. We could do that 15 years ago, too.

It’s cute that AI can put those results in conversational form, but that hardly “changes the whole paradigm.”

That's what he's saying, that the US lost those wars because it was the Department of Defense instead of the Department of War and somehow the latter makes soldiers fight harder or something.
