She’s gone, and it feels like with her, my entire heart. Fewer than 8 hours from collapse to euthanasia due to congestive heart failure. Please, hold your fur babies tight, treat them like the family members that they are, and show them at every opportunity how much you love them. I am so broken.

Seen a couple of public art posts today; reminded me how long it’s been since I’ve been to my favorite rural spot. There’s always something new, and it never disappoints. The portrait is the reward for those who explore; it’s only visible from inside or behind the building.

Not sure how large the contingent of botanists might yet be on this site, but have always wanted an ID on this. Shot in an exotic succulent garden; no identifying info, and no idea where the natural range might be. Low and shrubby with succulent stems; leafless when in flower.

Introducing the kids, 2 of 2. Isa’s a 14-yo rescue, background unknown before adopting her 5 yrs ago. Right now she’s got a deep ulcer from a calcium deposit flaking off and taking a big chunk of cornea with it. She’s currently at 35 daily eye drops, so please send some good healing energy her way.

Introducing the kids, 1 of 2. Manito was a puppy mill puppy that we adopted after a protective custody seizure. Almost 13 years later he still suffers from high anxiety levels after his rough start, but we try to give him his best life every single day.

Newbie intro: bio BS (systematics/evolution); biotech nerd for 30+ years. Back to school for photography. Never posted much on the Other Site; hoping I’ll feel more comfy here. So, a first pic. Because Cataviña is one of the most inspiring places I’ve ever been, and, boojums rule.
