I learnt last night that the 'why did the chicken cross the road / to get to the other side' joke is funny because it's about the chicken dying — aka passing to the other side.

Am I the only person who didn't know this? 🤣

If anyone I've just followed is reading this... hi! I most likely used to follow you on Twitter. I am just working on a serious move so that I can deactivate my Twitter account.

Please follow me back! I don't post a lot here at the moment but will do soon 😌

Had an absolute blast at @unibirmingham.bsky.social today talking about queer folklore with one of the warmest and inquisitive audiences I've ever had. Thank you X

This — if you swap out the specifics for ‘batch cook next week’s lunches’ and ‘do laundry then hang it all up with colour coding’ — is me on a Sunday at university.
Woke up, spontaneously drafted a children's book, cleaned the fridge, went back to bed, and have remained there doing nothing ever since. If ever a day was an example of 'peaked early', this would be it.

This makes me very sad that Collectif has gone. I bought a beautiful green knitted vest from their Brighton store and then the next time I was in Brighton the store had gone 🥲

Also shout out to the Collectif trousers I got in a charity shop for £3. Hoping that’s how to find old styles in the wild
Thank you @julietteburton.bsky.social for this INSANELY GOOD COLLECTIF DRESS that I will be wearing tonight, all smug n fancy.

"has had surprisingly few proper breakdowns given the general aura of instability" is actually the one thing I feel I really have in common with my government
honestly surprised it’s been sixty years since the last time a French government collapsed. based entirely on vibes it feels like it should happen much more frequently

I’m glad to see this on here! Was never a goodreads user but I love the StoryGraph. Please don’t let your bookshelf support billionaires. (My bookshelf is from IKEA and so seems like it would be very invested in this, if you get me?)
Goodreads is owned by Jeff Bezos. A better alternative is StoryGraph, a Black woman-owned platform. And before y’all start, you can transfer all your Goodreads data to Storygraph so you literally have no excuse.
