My four biggest passions are speculative fiction, politics, art, and library and information studies, but this account will primarily be for posting my art. Recent MLIS graduate applying for academic librarian positions.
Accidentally lost this painting in Denver a few years ago. I was carrying too much stuff on the walk over to a friend's house to finish it, sat down on a bench, and walked away with everything but the painting. It was gone when I came back 25 minutes later. Oh well

Finished most of this while attending my very first sci-fi/fantasy convention over the last few days. Excellent panels, including one with Cory Doctorow and two library directors on the future of libraries, made some new friends, and had an amazing time hanging out with cool people.

Sharing from a different platform, but I'm pretty proud of this joke

Unripened Onyx Candy peppers. Apparently the Puma peppers will turn this color when they ripen

This is my lucky fossilized sawfish tooth. I almost lost it, but it came back to me!

Do you like hexagons with way too much going on with the #art painted on them? This one was traded for #Ween tix that I couldn't use as I was unable to find a ride to Red Rocks and then just gave away. Teaching me two lessons, people will pay for #paintings & I'm awful at logistics & selling art...

I don't think this is the bluest one overall, but it's definitely one of the better blue paintings I've done.

Got a chance to work on this #painting at an underground venue in #birmingham. I'll hopefully be doing some live painting there while I'm waiting to be hired as an academic librarian. The person who runs the venue also sells his custom clothing there & will be selling some of my #art as well.

Not sure if I'm finished with this #painting or not. I did some more outlining at some point over the past two weeks despite not having touched it for over a year prior. #abstractart #art #poscamarkers

Work in progress, tentatively titled 'Spontaneous Autotrophic Nervous System Expulsion.' Remember, everybody, let's try to keep it on the inside. #art #abstractart #workinprogress #painting #artforsale #trippy #surrealistautomatism

Just realized that most of my paintings would probably be more aptly described as surrealist automatism than abstract expressionism. I imagine one of the benefits that art school would've provided was learning how and when to use either term to best service marketing or trying to sell them. #buyart

I'm not sure if the better one of these two is technically orange enough..

This #painting is hanging up at my friend's house in #Birmingham. I'm pretty sure it was done with #posca, #montana, #molotow, #ironlak and #sharpie paint markers on a piece of wood from the back of a set of drawers that I deconstructed and #upcycled. #abstractart #art #shapes #patterns #drips

Another #painting from either last year or the year before some here in #tuscaloosa on #upcycled wood from deconstructed furniture. It looks similar to the last one I posted because it's the same style which I usually describe as 'stochastic geometry.'

Finished this #painting last year while attending grad school in #Tuscaloosa. It was painted on #upcycled wood made from deconstructed furniture with #posca #molotow #montana and #sharpie #markers. This is the style I work in most frequently. #abstractart #art #psychedelic

Not sure if I'm finished with this #painting yet, but I like how the #upcycled board of #wood is visible. Honestly, you'd think I'd be able to tell what type of wood this was having used it instead of canvas for nearly 10 yrs, but no clue. It's got a good grain. #art #abstractart #psychedelic #posca

This #mixedmedia #drawing is one of my earliest pieces that still exists, so pls be kind. Over 20 yrs ago, shortly after moving from #Vegas to #Montgomery for my last 2 yrs of high school, it was done using mechanical #pencil, ultra-fine #sharpie #markers, and #ballpoint. #art #abstractart #trippy

I painted these 2 teak wood panels that I had scored while doing temp work for a furniture store in #Denver back in 2018. A friend bought them to hang in his #RV, and to this day it's the most I've earned on a single sale of my #artwork.

Well, this is disappointing but not entirely unexpected (to be clear I'm not disappointed with UMD, just the situation in general and the reasons it's happening). I suppose I should be glad it isn't just a straight rejection or an offer that was then rescinded.

This #painting was done with #molotow and #posca paint markers on the back of a sign that I grabbed before it could be thrown away when I was doing custodial work at a bank here in #Tuscaloosa before starting grad school. #art #abstractart #upcycled #trippy #pattern

A giant #painting on what I think is a sideboard for a king size bed done with #posca, #montana, #molotow, and #machinestudio paint markers. #abstractart #trippy #art #artshare
