I drove around this weekend and did my thing - I dropped off copies of my new book Unbound: Lost On Shelf in Little Free Libraries throughout NE Ohio! And as of today, you can snag a copy for yourself here: inkwits.bigcartel.com/product/unbo...
One of the best lectures on comic book lettering I've ever seen. I had the pleasure of being in the audience for this.

An addendum to this - this is *not* a license to make ugly balloons/lettering! (I'm looking at you, ellipse tool people!) There's still a visual art component to the puzzle you have to solve!
Yes. This. Plan your lettering out with your paneling. Your word balloons are a graphic design element first and an artistic choice second.
Everyone should do their lettering at the layouts phase.

If the balloons are breaking the borders, you're doing it wrong. I have to do my letters at the layout phase, before even rough pencils, because if I don't there is absolutely not going to be enough room for the balloons

The exhibit I co-curated at The Billy Ireland, Motion Lines: How Cartoonsts draw Movement, closed this past weekend... but if you missed it there's now this great online version--one of the very few they've done this for!

I've been rewatching Twin Peaks and listening to a ton of David Lynch interviews. It's really a shame that he never got to make Ronnie Rocket. I always thought that was the industry's fault, but it seems like maybe he wasn't totally satisfied with his script. The big fish that got away, I suppose.

Thank you guys for showing this comic so much love yesterday! I know process isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I love it! So here's the behind the scenes stuff that made this comic happen.
I drew the grim reaper image first and wrote a comic around it. I used this image in One Piece as inspiration.

This week's iNKWiTs Sunday Funnies includes a deep dive into a rejected strip from eight years ago - before the comic was even running in the paper!

Just watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992) It has to be one of the okay-est movies ever. It's not remarkable, but there's nothing wrong with it. I laughed several times and the vampire pageantry was self-aware and fun.
