I pay for premium! I also have more access to the YT back end than most, so I’ve been following the data. There was previous speculation that Restricted Mode was the cause of the view drops, but recently, it came out ad blockers are restricting access to a cookie that YT uses to count views.

Ever since YT stopped counting ad blocker views, I think the ability of their analytics to accurately reflect views is completely scuppered. I’d guess there’s considerable overlap between ad blocker users and game video essay watchers, so those numbers may be artificially low.
