Two weeks ago, I took this photo, full of hope.

In the days since, hope has withered like the dried flowerheads: frosted with cold, preparing for a long, cold winter.

While they may not be visible, millions of seeds are still here, covering the dark earth, waiting for their moment to spring forth.
