Overall, TanStack Start is already in RC, so I recommend slowly trying it out for your side projects. It’s absolutely worth it.

Ideally, sit down and read it end-to-end, then start coding, then go back to the docs again — because you’ll realize the first time you read it, you probably misunderstood half of it.

It takes some time to get used to that and to learn how to use the framework API to properly separate logic.

Documentation:
The documentation isn’t easy to digest. You’ll spend a lot of time there.

If you’re switching from Next.js, it’s going to be rough at first. You’ll have to *rewire your brain* a bit — things work differently here.
In TanStack Start, all code is isomorphic by default, meaning it runs both on the server and the client.

But in today’s world, everything’s becoming commercialized, and products often end up worse for it. So finding a gem like this feels pretty awesome.

3. The developer experience is amazing.
You’ll genuinely enjoy working with it.

Cons:

Yeah, that sounds weird, because usually a framework is supposed to handle things for you so you don’t think about the setup.

Its creator, @tannerlinsley , isn’t trying to tie it to any specific platform like Next.js — and that means it’s being built *for developers*, not for marketing.

2. Incredible freedom.
There’s no forced API structure — it’s just plain Vite underneath.

Here’s what I learned from using it and why I’m betting on its future popularity:

Cook in once a week. Freeze soups and meals in glass containers to enjoy during the week.

Eating healthy:
Regular cooking helps, but limit snack buying - keep it in check.
