Senior Creative lead at big city art gallery. Lover of art and dogs, vaguely fond of my kids. Online nonsense a mixture of all these things. All views my own.
Existing at such a level of chaos just now that I’ve bought a notebook specifically for writing lists. Or…did I just need an excuse to buy new stationery?

Just seen the marketing posters for our first exhibition of 2025 and it’s going to be 🤩🤩🤩. Some joy on a horrible cold January day.

First day back in the office. Feel like I’ve been away a lifetime. Trying desperately to find the ‘things to do after Christmas’ list that I wrote - aka the procrastination list.

Well, the roads are flooded but our 5000ltr water tank is nice and full! So, every cloud etc etc.

After an hour in the loft, Christmas is banished and we are ready for 2025!

We’ve run out of pigs in blankets! Sad times…

This morning I came downstairs to find my 6yr old sitting in semi darkness watching the sunrise. He dragged me over to look at the pretty colours with him. Life is pretty tough for my neurodivergent little man so it’s lovely to share moments like this.

Out of office is ON. Happy holidays one and all. See you in 2025.

Did tell my husband I wanted another dog, however I think my mum will want this one back at some point. Nice to dog sit and pretend for a bit!

Funnily enough, the gazebo didn’t make it. But we set up alternative arrangements and everyone got fed.
Off to set up a bbq in a gazebo for a school Christmas fair…wish me luck! 🍃💨🌧️

Brilliant evening unveiling Florence Claxton’s ‘Women’s Work: A Medley’ in Manchester Art Gallery. Here’s curator Hannah sharing the brilliant and serendipitous story of how it came into our collection. Thanks to the funding bodies and individuals whose generosity made it happen!

#Museum30. Today is #create which sums up everything we do in museums and galleries: We create experiences, joy, moments for shared conversation and reflection, things to do, things to see and so much more. Creativity is at our heart.

After 2 xmases living with my parents (Jewish, don’t do Xmas at all), we are super excited about being in our own home this year. Starting prep early with some extra tree decorations because you can never have too many.

Manchester Contemporary Art Fair - the amazing patrons scheme once again facilitating Manchester Art Gallery to buy contemporary artwork linked to the Northwest. Tonight we were able to purchase from 7 artists whose works will support our teaching agenda around visual literacy.

#Museum30 today is #challenge. There are a lot of challenges to the sector just now. It can feel quite discombobulating. Actually the greatest challenge is to look after ourselves so that when we come out the other side of this mess, and I believe we will, we are good to go.

Once again managed to be in a museum for two days for a conference and see nothing of the actual museum! Lucky Leeds is so close, I have no excuse not to come back and take in the heritage and culture properly.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t give a big shout out to the MAG team for winning with our Families of the World project, working with newly arrived families in Manchester seeking asylum. A genuinely joyful moment and we’re already planning the celebration party with the families we work with.
We don't want to overdo it by spamming everywhere BUT we'd be remiss if we didn't say something here about the amazing winners of our Museums Change Lives Awards 2024.

They represent the best of socially-engaged practice in museums across the UK and we love celebrating them.

Small boy’s topic this term is ‘who deserves a statue?’ And I am totally here for discussing commemoration. His teacher might not be though.

Went to a big meeting today where I had to unexpectedly explain what I did in one sentence and I panicked and said I was the chief plate spinner which, on reflection, is probably accurate.

Back to school for kids and back to work for me after 6 weeks at home. 2 fruit flies died in my morning coffee but the day will improve, right?

One kid thrilled to go back to school and one kid with anxiety through the roof. Sending much love to all the other SEN parents navigating the return to school path this week.

Spent the day at Quarry Bank Mill. Kids were not impressed with the idea of working in a mill ‘but it’s so dangerous mummy!’ Well, yes. They learnt a lot though, had fun and big kid says she’ll stop complaining about needing to wait her turn to use the (indoor) toilet.

Started ‘sun drying’ glut of tomatoes in the over at 2:30. Now deep regret as I realise they are going to have to stay in overnight. Will this be worth the effort? Or will I just have tomato crisps in the morning?
