I really want to be hopeful, but trusting this to a building full of the demographic that falls for Nigerian Prince emails and accidentally adds journalists to their illegal Signal chats doesn't leave me with the most confidence.

I just hope that the caucus has their head on a swivel. They're going to promise you the moon and then pull the rug out from under you again if you're not careful.

But maybe we're playing 3D chess. Maybe the Ds agreed to start the process because they know the GOP isn't good for it.

"We agreed to come back to the table and these dudes still won't work with us to make things happen. Pay attention."

It just seems like such a boneheaded move to start this process when all the GOP has offered is the promise to think about maybe doing some but not all of the things that Democrats want.

Especially since we've already done this once and had all those things rescinded.

Old school Democrats out here with their letterman jackets that don't fit quite the same anymore reminiscing about the good old days when the parties could "govern together" like they didn't just pass a bipartisan CR earlier this year and then watch the GOP rescind every single thing they asked for.

Everyone aside from Fetterman is over 65 and not up for reelection.

This is fantastic news, tbh.

Me when someone from anywhere else uses "redneck" as a derogatory thing. Or when someone blames Appalachia for the current troubles like we've got enough electoral votes to sway to whole shebang. Or when someone starts shouting about "HERITAGE NOT HATE!"
