Meanwhile the bit about relaxing standards for security clearance is the one that stands out the most to me "Come on, there's no way Ivan Snitchovitch can't be trusted with this. Next you'll tell me is brother Boris Kablamov and who used to work in the KGBs demolitions unit is no good either!"

or pushing away all the traditional allies of the United States so their enforcement of the sanctions becomes weaker too. And cutting foreign aid so any leverage over other nations further weakens any ability to enforce sanctions.
