Hi Mat,
We have loved shadowing the Klaus Flugge prize this year! I have emailed you our photos from across the six classes but our winners were: Slug Life (2 classes), The Cafe at the Edge of the Woods (2 classes), The Cat Who Couldn't Be Bothered and The Christmas Mouse.

Same child, different comments.

The children are getting more confident with forming their own opinions of, and commenting on, the illustrations too. 🎨

It was lovely, Kelly! I loved this bookmark menu too. 😊

Finished The Wrong Shoes ahead of our Staff Book Club next week. Gritty, emotive and relatable for young people today, I can understand why it has been nominated for so many awards. I will read it to my Year 6 class next term. Thank you to Tom Percival for this important read!

Thank you @uklitassociation.bsky.social for my copy of Michael Rosen's Pocket Shakespeare! Perfect for my Year 6s. This year we have already studied Macbeth, Henry V and Romeo and Juliet! 🎭

Walking into my local bookshop and, to my complete surprise, seeing an advanced copy of The First Year was a very good start to my Easter holidays! What's everyone else reading at the moment?

Have you read The Hotel Balzaar?

I've enjoyed exploring the history of Prinsengracht 263 in Amsterdam (the house that would go on to hide Anne Frank and her family). This beautiful information book makes us reflect on changing landscapes and how key events in history impacted every day people.

25 of our Year 6s signed up to shadow the Oxfordshire Book Awards this year so by the end of the day, all these books had gone! I'm excited to see which ones the children enjoy the most.

Listened to Steady For This as an audio book on my journey to/from work this week. It made me laugh so much and brightened my journey up no end. A great book for KS3!

On Friday, I finished Safiyyah's War by Hiba Noor Khan. Such a gripping and inspiring read which highlights the best of humanity. So interesting to read the historical notes. I highly recommend it!
Anyone else read it? @teresacremin.bsky.social @kashleyenglish.bsky.social @vikkivarley.bsky.social
