NYC being a dangerous place generally and how uncaring/desensitized people are,are driving factors for me wanting to leave. I’ve been to other states for not even a few hours and the locals talking to me or just being nice to me was such a shock. It just sucks to have such a love hate with NYC.

the subway to my old job,I always felt paranoid. My head was on a swivel. I’d constantly be on the lookout for mentally ill/homeless/dangerous looking people. I especially was scared when the train came I’d start looking around furiously behind me because I was scared I’d be pushed by someone.

The bystander effect in NYC is very real and is one of the biggest reasons I want to move out of this city. I feel like everything went to hell overtime after the pandemic. I no longer feel safe going on the subway entirely as a small Asian female presenting individual. When I used to have to take

who went around assaulting women and this spawned a few copycats iirc. The cops did nothing. They were too busy busting people who were jumping and evading (what is it,$2.75? Soon it’s $3.00 apparently.) The cops don’t care unless it’s the rich and high class affected. The people don’t care.

literally will get stress anger about someone being hit by a train because someone being hit by a train means they’re late to work means their boss won’t be understanding nor compassionate and be angry because you’re late so you’re late. No excuses.

NYC is a city where there was literally a guy

The truth is everyone in NYC is just so desensitized and tired of everything. I’m not saying it’s right that no one did anything. I’m 100% blaming the cops cause there’s footage of her burning and they’re just standing around picking their noses or whatever, doing nothing. Ffs people in NYC

negligent homicide after Neely was pronounced dead.

A lot of social media users have been using this one individual case to use as a reason why people will no longer intervene but I’m very sure that because so much stuff happens every year in NYC,a lot of locals here do not remember what happened.

reacting to the lady being burned don’t even have a clue either what happened with Penny in 2023.
TLDR a 30 year old homeless man was put into an extended chokehold by a former marine,Penny after he was allegedly making threats to people on the subway scaring them. Penny was charged with

On top of that, then you have a bunch of people bringing up what Daniel Penny did back in May 2023. I wasn’t even aware of this because there’s so much shit happening in NYC constantly that it all just starts to meld and become the same time period.

The thing is most of these comments reacting to

people running away as well as our city’s BELOVED /s cops doing absolutely nothing to help her. Even if she was dead by that point, the video footage of cops walking by her doing nothing.

Now a bunch of non NYC folks saw this and are disgusted, shocked, angry, etc. this is the reality of NYC.

He had to have used some kind of flammable liquid. But I digress. The main point is,a woman was set on fire. She couldn’t react because she was basically dead by the time she stood up and couldn’t scream for help. THIS is the part that shocked everyone. The footage of a burning person standing and

A few days ago,an illegal migrant set a young woman on fire,on the NYC subway and there isn’t any concrete source answering the one question everyone is asking and terrified of. As am I? How tf was someone set on fire so easily off of a lighter and so quickly.
