Pritzker: "In any other country, if federal agents fired upon journalists & protesters when unprovoked what would we call it? If officials marched down streets harassing civilians & demanding their papers, what would we say? I don't think we'd have trouble calling it what it is: authoritarianism"

Please, for the love of god, stop non-emergency helicopter flights to Manhattan! They completely ruin the experience of the Hudson River waterfront around West 30th St…just insane noise externalities for the benefit of so, so few people.

When Hidalgo steps down next year, she'll have left an inspiring legacy: 350 km of protected bike lanes, 130,000 bike parking spaces, 300 school streets, 145,000 trees, 45 km of parks, and 140,000 fewer car parking spaces. Largely thanks to a light, quick, cheap experiment started 20 years earlier.🔚

Two of Mamdani’s concrete real estate proposals – requiring all-union labor for city-subsidized housing and freezing rent-stabilized rents – truly would be disastrous though if you don’t believe he’s going to back down from them (I think there’s a good chance he would).

crazy that an influx of dense infill housing can lower prices and make homeownership more attainable
"In 2020, [Portland, OR] approved building [middle housing] on lots zoned for single family homes... A new report from the City says, it's working. 1,400 new units built in just a few years and each one is $300,000 less expensive than a typical single family home." @nbcnews.com

Funny that Andrew Cuomo is “real estate’s candidate” (he is! they’re donating a lot to him!) when he passed the strictest rent law in the country in 2019, ensuring permanent rent controls on a third of the city’s homes. Just shows how few friends the housing market really has in New York politics.
Last night, Eric Adams’ Rent Guidelines Board announced plans to raise the rents on 2+ million tenants yet again.

Andrew Cuomo is real estate’s candidate and will do the same.

I have been pledging to freeze the rent since day one of this campaign. And together, we will.

If Cuomo is elected you might as well throw up your hands. Do people understand that? Sure, you will have nominal competence and efficiency in the city. But everything stops with regards to Albany. He will wage war with Hochul for its own sake, leave money on the table just to make her look bad.

The best thing New Yorkers can do to say F you to Trump is ensure that neither Eric Adams or Andrew Cuomo are mayor in Jan 2026.

The complete failure of blue states to build housing is what's driving this

Simply allow for any type of housing to be built pretty much anywhere, and cut all the wait times

Just let housing get built en masse!

the reason YIMBYs are so incessant about YIMBYism is that there is literally One Simple Trick to fix the housing crisis that actually *raises* government revenue and is environmentally friendly.

we just need to legalize housing

I'm deeply saddened to share that Donald Shoup passed away last night. He was the ideal academic—curious, methodical, and concerned with turning ideas into real-world change. TAing his parking course these past few years has one of the greatest honors of my life. Rest in peace, Shoup Dogg.
