GitHub Copilot agent mode trip report:
- being able to assign issues to the agent and it opens a PR is pretty cool
- the agent not being able to rebase its own changes makes concurrent changes basically a non-starter
- every iteration being a 15+ minute cycle makes it inappropriate for anything real

I tried out GitHub's Copilot agent mode, and it seems to mostly be a wrapper around GitHub Actions, some opaque CLI, and some MCP servers.

As such it shouldn't surprise anyone to learn that it doesn't pin its actions dependencies, and has surprising permissions granted to it. Be careful out there!

One thing I had not anticipated in the fight against realistic AI video fakes, was that folks would also start using AI upscaling and compression, which would make legitimate videos harder for folks to distinguish from fakes.

Seems like a bit of an own-goal IMO.

Pro tip: if you are prone to motion sickness and own an iPhone, go into accessibility settings and enable vehicle motion cues. It’ll add dots to the sides of your screen when it detects you’re in a car.

Usually if I’m on my phone in the car, I’ll feel motion sick but this actually worked for me.

A year ago, @chainguard.bsky.social started moving all our serving infrastructure from GKE to Cloud Run.

We learned a lot, we built a lot, and almost all of the common infrastructure that powers it all is open source!
