Hold your kitties extra close (if they'll let you) today, friends.

Now cracks a noble heart. Good night, sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

From his first day in our house as a kitten, through a million boxes and a million naps, he was Mister Mo, Moo-shoo, Mushy-Moo, MoMo, Mr. Baby Kitty, and just good old Moshannon (named for a state park in central Pennsylvania).

He wasn't always majestic though. He had a propensity for contortion that was second-to-none.

I've considered these months of unemployment a gift & blessing of sorts, because it meant I got to spend a LOT more time with Moshannon (and frequently had the honor of chauffeuring him to and from the vet). 😽

I miss him every single moment. I keep looking for him around the house, chasing shadows.

Get thee to Pow Pow and buy the holiday egg rolls. The two LARGE rolls that you get make a meal, and are very very good!

@oranv.com @transiterranean.bsky.social pro-tip: you can see upcoming rail extensions on Apple Maps once an official date has been set by tapping on the entrances at future stations, then tapping the “service resumes” date in the card and then “view on map” in the following menu

He’d be shitposting with the best of them. I miss him every day.

Gathering now at Foggy Bottom Metro station for the #WDoR2025 to walk to the Lincoln Memorial and remember those we’ve lost to traffic violence (I am remembering Dave Salovesh today).

Went to Alexandria this afternoon with @bogrosemary.bsky.social, checked out @kerrinsuzanne.bsky.social’s pottery at the Alexandria Clay Co-op’s holiday sale (where we saw this amazing hawk!), then shopped at the very nice Wegmans across the tracks—it was fancy wine-tasting Saturday. :)

It isn't just the app - the DC 311 website is trash and often fails to accept requests as well.

I got to spend the morning and early afternoon at the offices of Akin Gump, serving as a moderator for an elementary and middle school geography competition (GeoPlunge). Amazing kids from all over the city there. And lord, they have a snazzy office with amazing views.

If you want a chocolate beer, get thee to Aldi. This Chocolate Lava Cale Stout is the most chocolaty (yet not sickly sweet) stout I have ever had.
November 7, 2025 at 11:46 PM
@bikeshare.bsky.social we found a piece off one of your bikes in our treebox this morning. Not sure if this is of any value to you, logistically or otherwise, but thought I would share anyway.

Here they are. I took all out and added epoxy that I got at Jenks. Going to let this cure for a day before remounting the flag.

Thankfully, this is on a brick post at the front of the porch, so it’s not adjacent to the house/a hole that could let anything inside. Like these in the photo.

We caught the DASH Pride bus and took it across the city!

The former Tony’s Place and the adjacent buildings on H St are surrounded by chainlink now, with the sidewalks closed off. (Sorry the picture is awful, but I was on a bus wrapped with an ad.) Anyone know what’s happening there?

Pride DASH bus!
November 3, 2025 at 7:31 PM
Bring it on!!!!
November 3, 2025 at 1:16 AM
These “operator availability” alerts are not unique. And then the bus that was supposed to come just drove by and skipped all 5 of us standing at the stop (stop no. 1001781). @wmata.com @metrobusinfo.bsky.social

I have a history of calling out typos on DC campaign signs (imgoph.blogspot.com/2008/10/ward...), so this unsolicited email from "Deirdre for DC" that tells me "Your Invited" deserves a special note.

(I unsubscribed once already, but the campaign didn't take me off the list. Poor campaign hygiene.)
