Father, writer, reader, gamer, nerd. Do a little tinkering here, a little tailoring there. Never a soldier, often a spy. He/him, but ally to all.
The genius of @kipwilliams.bsky.social 's username has me corpsing; first he Sort Of liked my comments, now he's Sort Of following me. 🤣🤣🤣 Absolutely love this level of Manufactured Disinterest, wish I'd thought of it first.

Was scrolling too quickly and my pre-caffeinated brain saw this @pivotpod.bsky.social caption as THE QUEST FOR KARLA. My tour of @realjohnlecarre.bsky.social 's London is so nigh that I'm seeing little Smileys everywhere. Cannot wait to get across the pond. And possibly just stay there.

I hope to walk @realjohnlecarre.bsky.social 's London next week. I hope to see the Tradecraft exhibit in Oxford. I hope to attend the opening night of The Spy Who Came In From the Cold. But we live in a tin pot dictatorship run by idiots, monsters, fascists, racists, and ghouls. So...who knows.

What a sweet little nugget. Just needs a thousand kisses on that head. An hour.

Traveling without bookstore access for the week, so just ducked into a little airport bookseller looking for KING SORROW by @joe-hill.bsky.social ; found it sold out (yay!) but I'm hauling 90 lbs of carryon so probably for the best. They DID have a faced-out TTSS by @realjohnlecarre.bsky.social, tho

Added this Time magazine to the Musée du Cirque; a wonderful @realjohnlecarre.bsky.social cover story. Includes possibly the silliest photo of le Carré I've ever seen (though delightful all the same) and redeems itself with a lovely family photo including Jane and @nickharkaway.com. #tradecraft

Added this small but charming bit of @realjohnlecarre.bsky.social ephemera to my growing Musée du Cirque, in loving memory of the great spy writer. Alec Guinness writes to a fan who'd requested a photo, but all he had handy was a promotional headshot from SMILEY'S PEOPLE. ❤️ I've died.

Racing through IAH, the World's Dumbest Airport Layout Award winner every year I land here, and spotted the familiar red and black spine of a favorite @realjohnlecarre.bsky.social novel on their cute but forlorn little Book Club cart. Perhaps it's been seconded from a local correctional facility.

Didn't know when we bought this British Classics puzzle that it would include @realjohnlecarre.bsky.social's TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY, such a wonderful surprise! A puzzler of a plot in a paperback whose cover is a puzzle, IN A PUZZLE! Probably the most meta moment of my life.

This is turning out to be quite the @realjohnlecarre.bsky.social Road Trip. Headed to London in November, first to see the le Carré exhibit at the Bodleian Library in Oxford (with a quick jog to see Connie, for her memory), then opening night tix for The Spy Who Came In From the Cold! Thrilled!

Once again, @realjohnlecarre.bsky.social makes a visit to the @jeopardyofficial.bsky.social board. I'm telling y'all, someone over there is a big, BIG fan. ❤️

Who are Ian Fleming and @realjohnlecarre.bsky.social? ONCE AGAIN, the clue writers on @Jeopardy drop a le Carré into the game, this time for Final Jeopardy. Someone on the show is such a le Carré Superfan and I'm so here for it. ♥️

The simple but striking colors in Matt Taylor's covers for the @penguinbooksusa.bsky.social paperbacks of the @realjohnlecarre.bsky.social books make them perfect for digital puzzling. Tinker Tailor is my favorite of the bunch, though A Perfect Spy is a very close second. ♥️

Welcoming a new agent running in the field as @realjohnlecarre.bsky.social joins Bluesky! On this episode of So Very le Carré: A Spy's Lexicon, celebrating le Carré's enduring impact on the language of spy fiction.

Now that I've completed extensively rebuilding the Ancillary Writing Parlor (or AWP Room, for short*), it's time to get back to work on the book.

* Only #TinkerTailor fans will get this.

Counting down the days to KARLA'S CHOICE by @harkaway.bsky.social, turned up these old snaps from Karla's desk at Moscow Centre. Looking forward to seeing what he was up to in the years before Tinker Tailor.

ESPECIALLY when le Carré reads his own work. The three-volume (lightly abridged) set of 2-tape audiobooks of THE SECRET PILGRIM is my single favorite bit of le Carréana.

Happy third birthday to this absolute unit, who started out as a cuddly little handful and is now 5'2" on his back feets. Love you, sweet boy. Best boy ever.

Also, for a split second I thought you might have stolen my laptop.

I'm sorry, @nytimes.com, but I've had numerous bouts of this unpleasant illness, it should absolutely be a legitimate Spelling Bee word.

Trying to read on a chilly, misty October morning. Chewie is having none of it and would like me to please look at his face.

Wishing I could hashtag this, but I'll just say it: NO MAPS FOR THESE TERRITORIES is on Tubi, you must watch it immediately. @greatdismal.bsky.social punching darts in the back of a chauffeured car, talking about the future. Weird and wild and wonderful and a perfect techno time capsule.

My camera roll is almost exclusively drinks. 😞

Ass on couch. Feet on floor. Head on table. Chewie has mastered the Three Point Beg.

Chewie is exactly tall enough to beg with his whole ass head.
