# NETWORKERS: A Micro RPG by James Gingold **2067** The MegaMax corp. rules the world, but a web of rebel freelancers are taking them down! **Materials:** 1+ biz card / player (more cards = more fun) **Objective:** Join the Networkers, fake it till you make it through 3 rounds of interviews, and end MegaMax from inside! **Rules:** Most recent student draws a biz card, then describes a 2 word “skill” they “have” for the title on that card using that person’s initials. The player to the left then tries with the same letters. If a player can’t think of a skill, they lose their turn and the person on their left draws a new card. Every successful skill = 1 point. ### The Cosmic Scale The most profound change to metaphysics came in 3E ERC+27 from the studies of De’he-deka geneticist Ashkii Dighin. In cataloguing magical species he discovered that classical metaphysics that was based on Intelligence could not account for magic spell effects cast by unintelligent creatures. He interviewed a number of magic users, and discovered that while the most powerful wizards all had high Intelligence, there were many powerful spellcasters with low Intelligence. Instead, they seemed to be drawing power from their Charisma or Wisdom. Unable to explain this paradox, he theorized that creatures capable of casting spells without any definable Charisma, Wisdom, or Intelligence were genetically predisposed to spellcasting abilities, and were instead casting from their Constitution. The intelligent design of the cosmos would have been the original source. It was this power that spellcasters who utilized Wisdom to draw magic from nature were accessing. Likewise, spellcasters with great charisma were using their strength at communication to petition Intelligent Demons or Mogh for power. As Intelligence is lost as magical energy and heat in transfer and time throughout all of these transformations, he began to realize that there must be initial cosmic Intelligence so unfeasible that accounted for all of the known magic that obeyed the laws of classical metaphysics. Magical equations done at this scale use his fundamental theory of cosmogonic mechanics—a science that could potentially lead to unraveling all the secrets of the planes. ## Thaumadynamics The branch of metaphysics that concerns how energy is transferred into magical spells is called thaumadynamics. ### Measurement Magic is a conserved quantity, meaning that it cannot be summoned or dispelled, only converted from other forms of energy. The unit of measurement for magical energy is the spell level, which is the amount of magical energy transferred to an object in order to cure wounds worth… ## Cosmogonic Mechanics Is there a limit to magic? Sure, same as there’s a finite amount of energy in the universe. Magic cannot be created or destroyed, it always goes somewhere and comes from somewhere. Clerics, paladins, bards, druids, rangers, sorcerers, and warlocks understand this, as they do not directly access magic. All of their magic ability comes from a single source—like a god or demon—that they must appease in order to maintain access. Wizards and magic using subclasses like the arcane trickster rogue and eldritch knight fighter do directly access the energy of magic through their own mental acuity after considerable study and practice. Cosmogonic mechanics is the fundamental theory in metaphysics that provides a description for the physical properties of magic based on a scale of Intelligence. ### Fundamental Concepts Classical metaphysics, like a cleric’s access to magic through the worship of Mogheunim, provided explanations at an observable scale, but is not sufficient to explain the unfathomable amount of magic wielded by Mogheunim herself. Rituals founded in classical metaphysics are an approximation of cosmogonic mechanics that is valid for practical application of creatures limited to the tiny to gargantuan scale. It generally ties the ability to reason with the amount (Int. modifier) and power (proficiency bonus) of magic a creature can wield without the benefit of a more powerful patron or item. Therefore, a practiced wizard with a high Intelligence could cast more powerful spells than an apprentice wizard with low Intelligence. Cosmogonic mechanics arose from theories to explain observations that could not be reconciled by the previous understanding of magic. It differs from classical metaphysics in that it has the ability to explain creatures with Intelligence scores beyond the measurable scale (\>20) and creatures with an Intelligence score of 1 that can still produce powerful magical effects. ### Examples #### Maverick Butterflies Consider… #### The Barker Homunulus The Runedar city-state of Far Port contains many curious ruins and statues dating back to the first or second era. Their purpose has been lost to time, and the ability to date them to a modern Atburðr is extremely unlikely based on the amount of information available. There is a primary source of information that historians hope may unlock the mysteries of the ancient dwarves, and his name is Kothar. He is affectionately known by locals as “The Barker Homunculus.” Kothar is the smallest and most complete of the region’s clockwork dracomatronics known to exist, and certainly the most talkative. The brass owl is permanently perched on a fake log next to his cane and dressed in a hat and bowtie, which are occasionally refurbished and maintained by the chamber of commerce. He speaks Dwarvish and Common, and has been loudly welcoming guests as they disembark at Far Port harbor since before the catastrophe. Kothar may in fact be the only intelligent creature alive that predates the 3rd era altogether, and most importantly to the interest of metaphysicists, Kothar can cast spells. Kothar is almost always casting a form of the high level bard spell _mass suggestion_, but he is also known to occasionally cast other bard spells. Many have claimed to receive a _message_ from him, although it’s impossible to verify. Children entering the city are likely to be entertained by an effect of _prestidigitation_. When describing local fare he often includes appropriate music and sound effects from a _minor illusion_ spell. It can be inferred from the knowledge he demonstrates that he utilizes _clairvoyance_, _comprehend languages_, _detect magic_, and _detect thoughts_. Animals, and especially other birds seem to converse with him as if under a _speak with animals_ or _animal friendship_ charm. Most impressively, he once singlehandedly warded off a pirate invasion by casting _guards and wards_ across the entire wharf and setting multiple _glyph of warding_ tr… We know that the most advanced magical item modern technology can craft, called a legendary item, can be imbued with a 7th-level spell that is cast once per day and requires 160,000 hours of labored skill by 17th-level spellcasters for a cost of around 500,000 gp to produce. Kothar is himself a 17th-level spellcaster, meaning that he is a magical item intelligent enough to create the most advanced magical item Intelligence can produce, which cannot be reconciled with classical metaphysics. To explain this paradox, cosmogonic mechanics allows for a theoretical calculation of the required Intelligence score and material cost to create a 17th-level spellcaster. The Pilwicken theorem allows us to calculate the energy cost per spell level per day per spell, which can then be compiled to determine the level required by a spellcaster to produce. <!--Insert purposefully confusing mathematical formulas here--> The Bloodlust rule, named for orc metaphysicist Gorga Bloodlust, states that the inherent ability of an object cannot exceed the ability of its creator, meaning that the ability scores of Kothar’s creator must all be higher than Kothar’s. Further, those scores are disparate and in addition to the Intelligence required according to Pilwicken. <!--Insert another purposefully confusing mathematical formula here--> Finally, we can apply Equation of Erenaeth to relate the Intelligence amounts to a single being capable of creating an item of that magnitude in one moment of time in relation to the amount of work energy otherwise necessary. <!--insert final purposefully confusing mathematical formula here--> Therefore, we can determine that the Intelligence score for the creator of Kothar is 3.7565634 x 10^48th power(+8.35473 x 10^14th power). <!--I just made this up, but should be correct math for the final version-->

Um…What? They made a Twisted Metal TV series that went A WHOLE SEASON without CAR CRASHES?!

I regret giving 15 years to working in television. Burn the streaming 8 hour garbage episodic movie format to the ground. We need pilots that get to the damn point in 15 minutes or don’t get picked up.
Twisted Metal season 2 trailer finally gear shifts to a deathmatch by Isaac Rouse Twisted Metal season 2 is set to premiere on July 31, and based on the trailer, it appears the Peacock show will finally be taking its in-game premise of a demolition derby to heart with a proper tournament. The first season detoured from adapting the video games in a straightforward way to give our protagonist, John Doe (Anthony Mackie), a proper origin story and character arc. Putting an actual Twisted Metal tournament in season 2 should gear shift the series into high-octane action.

It’s a sad day for crafters, makers, florists, artists, and party planners in LA. One of the great art supply institutions, Moskatels, is no more.
