Literally, I feel like everything in the atproto ecosystem is designed by engineers and no one cares to do better. Everything feels like modern geocities, which is cool but not going to convert normies.

All tiny mistakes but the outward perfectionism slowly evaporating makes the brand feel less and less ‘premium’ the more you notice & care about these tiny things as they stack up

I’m not sure I should care so much, but it does manage to disappoint me

I actually kind of like the black and white feel, but man that grid kills me

They had an instance of the typo “Air Pods” on their support site for YEARS

or the phone number callout having an extra space: “… 1.800.MY.APPLE .”

Yeah, they’ve diversified the business a ton, and a lack of focus is definitely apparent from them — but consistent icon sizing on a web page and using all those thick black and gray borders feels so unlike them, even today!
