I sewed this cool quilted bag! It turned out great and it’s going to make for a good gift for a special person. And best of all, it was all done with scrap fabric!

First attempt at a small quilting project to make the Orbit bag from @helenscloset.bsky.social. I like it! It reminds me of making origami in a good way.

I love it, yes! I myself am just starting a small quilting project and am making heavy use of the walking foot for that! May your t-shirt forever fit perfectly henceforth

For the hems and collar I switched to a stretch twin needle set up (like in the photo). This works *great* for knits, and the stitch is stretchy so it will tolerate my head going through the collar. I actually had to adjust the tension up a bit with this setup.

For the regular seams I used a stretch needle and a stretch stitch — it looks like number 4 in this photo on my machine

A me-made t-shirt I just finished in my favorite color. It fits! It’s got a collar! It’s hemmed nicely! And I didn’t have to fight the sewing machine and fabric because I finally nailed the alchemy between walking foot, stretch needles, and tension. 😌

So, like… how many shirts is too many shirts to make? 🫣
I love the fit of this one, and am excited that I get to make my own French cuffed formal shirts now!

Time to move on to pants… and get frustrated in a whole new way!

Very, very proud of this one. I took great care with all constructions and seams, and the results paid off. More ease around the chest fits comfortably but still snug, which I like. And I love the fabric!

Shirt is done! It’s a bit too tight in the chest area and needs a bit more ease around the scye, but overall it’s pretty spot on. I am absurdly pleased and am so happy that thanks to @freesewing.org I can easily adjust the pattern for my next one!

Chat, I spoke too soon… I messed up the buttonhole placement somehow! Do I have to unstitch the whole thing? 😫

Progress! This time the sleeves are correctly mirrored. Sleeves have been attached and the seams flat felled! I had to unstitch and reattach one because it had come out looking like trash the first time, but now I’m proud of this work!

New shirt started… how did I just find out about @freesewing.org? What a dream to be able to create customized patterns based on accurate measurements! So far this Simon shirt is coming along nicely…

Meanwhile I put buttons on, I like the fit! It may be a skosh too tight, and the neck is slightly too large, but I’m quite happy with it!

Help! Am I the only idiot to have made this mistake? 😂
And is the only fix to cut a new sleeve, pick all the side and armhole stitching, and sew on a new sleeve? 😫
Otherwise, I quite like the fit of this shirt after altering the pattern!

Putting my local library to good use… pattern making is difficult but I’m starting to see the rewards that could come from mastering the art! #sewing #sewist #garmentsewing #sewsky

Roll-up baby changing mat with fold-in pockets for diapers and wipes. I made this as a gift for a friend about to be a mom. I love the possibilities that sewing opens up!

When your kid’s activity takes an hour and it’s too short to go back home, you might be forced to enjoy a tasty beverage while you wait… such is life

I made the body and brim but they ended up fitting together awkwardly, and the fabric is hard to see through and thick… this may end up being just practice

A “quick” project that took a lot longer than expected… it’s surprisingly hard to figure out the right relationship of circle bottom to body width so they watch properly! #sewing #sewsky

I’ve made this shirt, from scratch!

I’m learning to sew with the goal of being able to make high end men’s clothing. This is a more informal shirt, and the second one I made—I learned a whole lot by making many mistakes in the first one!

Do you have resources to find patterns and get better?
