Working in tech and having what feels like every single one of my coworkers using AI makes me feel like I'm losing my mind. I don't want to use AI IDEs and I don't want to use chat GPT to summarize my notes. I don't fucking get it.

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:

18F was doing exactly the type of work that DOGE claims to want – yet we were eliminated shortly after midnight. Read our letter to the American people:

I spent my Friday night making a slide deck about personal info sec for a group of politically activated boomers that included encryption 101 and how password managers work.

Pray for me.

I finally uninstalled Instagram and threads from my phone. The temptation was unfair. And if I don't want to use it or support it, what's the point of it being on my phone anyway? I can post from my computer if I need to.

Gov. Mills showed precisely the sort of integrity in the face of political pressure that the majority of the party currently lacks. More importantly, she did so extemporaneously and without hesitation from a purple state where this isn't a universally popular position.

Does someone ever initiate a hug but they only touch their shoulders to yours? I always walk away confused. Personally that feels more awkward than just fist bumping or like waving goodbye. If we're gonna touch the squish your body into mine so I know you love me.

I did the clear sky thing and found out my account is blocked by a few people I don't know anything about.
The insatiable need to know *why* this awoke in me felt unhealthy and I'm probably not going to do it ever again.

Because I love writing up documentation and guides so much I feel like I should start a website to just share them. It could be called Liz Tries Everything and it could just have like little starter zines on how to do all the things I've learned. I love teaching and I do lots of research.
