It definitely IS practice. It’s decision making practice, it’s fundamentals practice, it’s improvisational practice. Open has a bunch of wacky shit going on, it’s atypical and requires different ways of looking at to win than a tourney match will. Open gives back what you put in, imo.

Also just one smaller followup, being a good MACRO and a good MICRO coach are two different skillsets.
People can understand a game in a high-concept on-paper way, but not be able to give you specific advice on how you could have best used your kit in an fight versus your mark. (And vice versa).

It’s a time thing, you have to play the odds of a matchmaker as much as you have to be Fight Winning Guy to climb. To make progress in a ranked environment you need to play like… two-to-four hours a day? Tops?
