New essay is up.

On strategy, wrestling and narratives. This one was many years in the making but it ended up needing a visceral reaction to what happened last week in the oval office to get it done.

I have one too.
"Pebble smartwatch with e-paper display expects a comeback after Google releases the device’s open-source code." (As a huge e-ink fan, I think I may still have my Pebble in my 'Draw of (Almost) Defunct Technology' somewhere...) www.designboom.com/design/pebbl...

Wow.
This is really interesting. Groundbreaking study on the value of libraries and “third places.”

“A whopping 82% of people who used the library’s physical space and 79% of people who physically attended programs reported more optimism regarding the future, compared to only 58% of digital-only users.”
Innovative Study by UPenn and NYPL Finds That Public Libraries Positively Impact Community Health and Well-Being
"Our research found that patrons experience refuge, joy, connection, purpose, and expansion through their library use"

Entered a cafe and asked if it’s okay for me to have a 30 min call from there. The proprietor looked at me intensely and asked: “Are you going to undress during the call? Because it happened before and people come with their kids here. We can’t have that.” Berlin❤️.

We lost our home and the majority of everything I cared about six years ago (because of a roofer who was an idiot, who’s been ducking legal efforts for recovery since years.)

Doesn’t make me an expert on the subject, but I have some thoughts if they are helpful to anyone who just experienced this.

The post office (+ public libraries) are 🌟. We *could* think so much more capaciously + creatively about what they can be!

@wattenberger.com Just read your Fish Eye essay – brilliant!

It hits the nerve so hard because of two things. First: I've been thinking a lot about how LLMs can help create a different relationship to physical archives, more specifically to archives of fashion houses. Your thinking helps!

This feels more like a Monocle story.
Sometimes I wonder if the @financialtimes.com might be a little out of touch.

As much as I would love to see this happen, the implications that there is an End is creating wrong expectations. I grew up through the era when everyone assumed that Microsoft was dead and will never be relevant again.

Apparently we live in the age of podcasts (they are not Wedding anyone — inside joke for the Berlin peeps here). No better time to start using Snipd. It has been my favorite podcasting app for about two years, and I'm happy to pay for it too.

There’s so much talk about the stratospheric returns that tech companies do and while this is all well and good, I find the rise of a physical product company like alo yoga even more impressive in a way? Started in 2007, now valued at 10 billion, opening up to 100 stores worldwide. Athleisure wins.

Nobody solved recommendations without the effort to talk to people quite like 4sq.
To be honest, I still
miss Foursquare. Seeing where your friends have been before in a new city and what they recommend, etc.

Lets stick to the parental leave theme. Went to see some Richter at Neue Nationalgalerie. Tiny was find with that but had a melt down while looking at Kirchner, Picaso and de Chirico. Decided not to read anything into it.
