Questionable science or economics? The SNP chips are sufficiently large and affordable for the ancestry segment. They tried to expand into exome sequencing, but clearly that was more challenging. GSK was licensing their data for years, so the therapeutics aspect wasn't entirely without merit.

This would have to be standardized. For instance, GEO does a nice job of making sure that the data is in the proper format and includes the necessary metadata. Some analogous system could exist for software. Repositories like CRAN do that to some extent, but they are not appropriate for every tool.

As much as disliked it at the time, it's a classic algorithm that will never go out of style (analogous to the sorting algorithms in CS).

The problem with practical curriculum is that it tends to be outdated in practice, rendering it not so practical.

My hot take: teach perl...
