It’s probably not the best indicator for this technology we’re betting the entire economy on that insurance companies aren’t willing to give the companies that use it comprehensive coverage.
An article from the Financial Times titled: Insurers retreat from Al cover as risk of multibillion-dollar claims mounts Major insurers are seeking to exclude artificial intelligence risks from corporate policies, as companies face multibillion-dollar claims that could emerge from the fast-developing technology. AIG, Great American and WR Berkley are among the groups that have recently sought permission from US regulators to offer policies excluding liabilities tied to businesses deploying Al tools including chatbots and agents. The insurance industry's reticence to provide comprehensive cover comes as companies have rushed to adopt the cutting-edge technology. This has already led to embarrassing and costly mistakes when models "hallucinate" or make things up. One exclusion WR Berkley proposed would bar claims involving "any actual or alleged use" of AI, including any product or service sold by a company "incorporating" the technology.

I’ve been thinking—and ranting to those who know me irl—about the ethereal “em dash”.
1) I just learned not too long ago that there are very little rules to its deployment.
And 2) it helps break up my clunky-ass pros.
PS: on iPhone, either double tap the dash key or press and hold for the em dash.
Title: The Em Dash. Text: The only time I ever use that magical piece of punctuation is when I needed to signify that someone has been suddenly cut off in conversation. Example: "I sure hope no pianos are dangling precariously overhead, that would be really—" The man was then shot five times at close range by a heavy handed metaphor for the US gun violence epidemic. So you can imagine can imagine my relief when such pretentious punctuation (don't worry alliteration, you're still safe... for now) was labeled as an indication that something was written by an LLM or Al or Emily Dickinson before her editor kicked in her door and forcibly wrenched the damned things from her hands before casting them into a roaring fire. I can't be the only writer who was like; "Oh, thank God. The masses have chosen a piece of punctuation I'm afraid to use. Maybe now no one will notice that I have no idea what I'm—" The hypothetical writer was then shot five times at point blank range by a heavy handed metaphor for the US police system. When I was a younger me, and wanted to improve and break up my clunky ass writing, I would occasionally—with trembling hand—reach for the em dash (see, I know how to use them now. In the biz we call that character growth). But (damn, I'm just breaking all sorts of grammatical rules today, huh?) now I feel like as though we as humans are loosing something, and no, l'm not just saying this way because I just learned how to use the damned things. (It turns out that you can basically just throw the fuckers around in sentences and still be right 85% of the time. Neat, right?) I don't know where this rapidly derailing train of thought was initially going, but that's just strange, right? Letting a machine influence and dictate what we as humans consider to be human born thoughts. I feel as though the multi billion dollar corporations that created and released these things onto humanity have succeeded in shrinking our creative impulses by overusing the bad boy of English punctuation. Have we given them too much power over us? Is this the end of what was never a profitable pass time to begin with? Have flesh and blood writers been successfully replaced by machines? Did I stay up far too late for any of this to make sense to anyone who isn't me? Am I now desperately searching for a clever and entertaining way to end this rambling stream of consciousness disguised as a tumblr post before it overstays its — Idris was then crushed to death by the piano mentioned earlier in this post, giving the whole thing a nice "planned from the start" kind of vibe. I think this encapsulates what people don’t understand about fascism. I doesn’t always look the same every time. Mussolini’s Italy, Hitler’s Germany, and Franco’s Spain all had similarities, but the shape of fascism changed depending on the culture in which they existed under.

A Reddit post asking “What did the Right Wing Win?” In response to a screenshot saying the following: “I hate that the right wing freaks are too stupid to notice they won the war and they've been winning it for decades. Our economic policy is right wing our foreign policy is right wing our courts are right wing our media is right wing. You won and your life still sucks so now what” I'm going to lay this out to the best of my ability, I'll try to only name "Right Wing Wins" that have happened in the modern era (aka since the end of WWIl). This will not be in chronological order. The complete dismantling any left wing movement through COINTELPRO, McCarthyism, and more broadly the entirety of the Red Scare. The Cold War; while Korea and Vietnam didn't go as planned the United States toppled multiple democracies in South America to replace them with regimes more favorable to the United States and private interests more broadly. The systematic dismantling of workers protections/rights in the United States through the litany of anti-union labor laws. The consolidation of corporate power by dismantling corporate monopoly regulations. The Citizens United decision which allows corporations to create dark money groups and funnel money into political campaigns. The dismantling of banking regulations, more specifically the repeal of The Glass-Steagall Act 1999. The dismantling and defunding of social welfare programs which continues to this very day. The privatization of public services. The government has become reliant upon public-private-partnerships. Public works projects that would have normally been handled by the federal government are now contracted out to private contractors. The funneling of public funds into private schools. Through "school choice programs" and "private school vouchers" public funds are now used to pay private school tuition. The repeal of Roe v Wade. The Affordable Care Act; While this was instituted under the Obama administration and is often called "Obamacare" the Affordable Care Act comes from a 1989 lecture by Stuart Butler, then a health economist at the Heritage Foundation and an earlier version of it was passed into law in Massachusetts by then Governor Mitt Romney in 2006. It was called Romneycare at the time. Even though Obama held majorities in both the house and senate, and ran on passing universal healthcare, he still went with the plan developed by the conservative think tank. The PATRIOT Act. The expansion of the prison industrial complex. Though crime has been on the decline since the 90s reaching record lows the prison population continues to increase. This is a direct result of mandatory minimums, the war on drugs, and the Three Strikes rule. It's no coincidence that that cheap prison labor continues to be a lucrative means to cut down on labor costs. The military industrial complex has exploded. Every war is a new money making opportunity for the private arms manufacturers which see a massive boost to their bottom line every time the country's war budget increases, and especially each time the United States gets involved in military conflicts. The gradual shift of the American economy from a manufacturing based economy to a service and financial based economy. Over the past 6 decades(give or take) we've seen wages remain stagnant (and in some cases decrease) while the cost of living has increased, we've seen workers rights get stripped back year after year, we've seen the social safety net shrink before our very eyes, and we've seen an alarming expansion of the surveillance state and police militarization. But sure gay, trans, women, and people of color have more rights now. People become so entirely wrapped up in culture wars that they don't realize that America is being sold for parts. Both major political parties have been fully captured by corporate interests, but they differentiate themselves from one another on social issues almost exclusively. They pit people against one another on racial and gender identity lines so that the wider public doesn't notice what's happening on class lines. The Democratic Party is known as the party of "Big Government", but let's not forget that the Republican Party is known as the party of "Big Business", and Big Business has been having the winning streak of a lifetime.
