Idaho native. Husband and dad. Avid reader. I go outdoors as much as I can but not nearly enough. I value critical thinking and getting to the root cause of things, but it’s difficult. Also, very much a Red Sox fan.
Worth it to look up how IVB works. Still boggles my mind. And all else being equal, more is better.

Oviedo seems middling. Maybe the Red Sox think they can unlock him?

Looks like they are trading around the margins on this deal instead of keeping assets to swing a deal for an impact player.

Did he say who authorized the second strike and why?

4?

Should

Well that figures.

IF he’s questioned? That only happens if he’s willing to take sole responsibility and loudly justify the decision. Otherwise Trump and Hegseth won’t let it happen.

I haven’t followed the Heritage Foundation close enough to say for certain but I don’t remember them being as far right as they currently are.

Don’t blame you. It’s all a tug of war between the billionaires and millionaires over who gets what. Meanwhile ticket prices go up.

I don’t know the reliability of those numbers but this is where language can get deceptive. What do they mean by a “financial loss”? EBITDA, Net Profit, Free Cash? They had an agenda with that comment.

BTW, the debt to value shown suggests the hat their interest expenses would not be large.

All I can say is that I’m relieved the Red Sox didn’t sign him. Not that they would have spent that much $$$ on a 30+ FA pitcher. Of course, I’ll eat those words if he kills us next year.

So it’s staged? My thought was the clip was so insane it had to be.

Wow

Assuming this not a setup…yes, people such as these are difficult to fathom and to stomach. But what fascinates me is the question of how people who are not obviously mentally incapacitated get this way. How do people who have some ability to think so willingly and completely surrender that ability?

“actual experts”? There are none. You opinion is as good as anyone’s.

Given the vast number of stars and planets that must orbit them, it seems wildly unlikely that we are one of one.

I get it…I think. Darryl and his kindred seem to believe that anyone who isn’t screaming the worst about Trump et al, we WILL devolve into fascism. That view may not be entirely wrong.

The problem I see is this fatalist view can be a variation of obeying in advance, which is also a problem.

BTW, I think Henry was happy to shed Devers’ contract.
November 18, 2025 at 11:02 PM
Two, Cora, who pushed for Bregman, said he could handle Devers. He couldn’t, and Breslow and others d/n help.

I never saw any hint of a plan to move Mayer to 3rd LT and it would be an insane risk, which you seemed to suggest.

Cora and Kennedy wanted B and I saw no plan beyond maybe extending him.
November 18, 2025 at 11:00 PM
Yes, they knew it would be a 1 year deal. But that d/n mean they planned to move Mayer to 3rd. I think they hoped to extend Bregman and they still might.

Two things were reported during that off season. One, they might play Bregman at 2nd, which made little sense because Cora wanted better D.
November 18, 2025 at 11:00 PM
While I have sympathy for your politics, and I do think that reputation/pedigree has major influence on prospect rankings, I’ll point out that Mayer was not the reason the Red Sox traded Devers.

If you cut through the posturing by all, it started with signing Bergman and spiraled from there.

This is very true. The incredible irony is that the RRR has convinced people that they have the solutions when they are to a great degree the cause. Some blame can be placed on the Dems, they abandoned the middle and working classes and didn’t listen to concerns about social issues.

MAGA is just the latest iteration of a populist movement with anger at its core. The root causes are difficult, but maybe not impossible.
