Fair enough! I appreciate civil dialogue, even if we don’t agree.
This take on the Red Sox trading for Sonny Gray is close to how I see that deal. I’d add that Gray also gives Tolle, Early et al a year of development. One could become a young #2. If not Breslow will buy or trade for a starter when baseball resumes in 26/27.

The Red Sox's Sonny Gray trade is as much about the future as it is 2026
Craig Breslow stunned Boston Red Sox fans when he traded for Sonny Gray. The move has had mixed reviews from Red Sox Nation, with some seeing the declining numb

This is so far outside the bounds of rationality that I’m skeptical it’s not staged. If it is real, wow.
On “The Necessary Conversation” podcast, Chad’s Trump supporter parents tell him the military should follow Trump’s illegal orders and kill everyone in LA if Trump commanded it — even with him and his sister in the city😳

How predictable was this? Law enforcement must be identifiable and transparent.
In NYC, criminals posing as ICE agents tied up a restaurant worker and bagged their head.

Trump’s policy of militarized, masked raids doesn’t stop crime. It encourages it.

Real ICE agents must identify themselves and stop turning law enforcement into a tool of fear. Public safety isn’t a costume.

Negative framing on Red Sox Duran. Cora says he likes him and Duran certainly brings energy and a unique skill set.

That said, he probably will get traded, but not because the Red Sox see him negatively. They have 4 starting outfielders and he makes the most sense to trade.

I’m am dying! Even the name of the website Trump posted about should have been a clue!
With a “WOW!,” President Trump posts a claim about DOGE and “royalties linked to Obamacare” that originated on a satirical website. That site’s own About section reads: “Everything on this website is fiction… If you believe that it is real, you should have your head examined.”

Just tracked down the current Uniform Player Contract. It’s Appendix A to MLB’s Collective Bargaining Agreement that expires next year. Got interested because I wanted to understand how the end of the CBA would affect player contracts.

Ended up thinking about the Devers situation with the Red Sox.

Interesting to see people twisting themselves into pretzels to dismiss yesterday’s No Kings protests as paid by Soros, full of paid actors, or whatever. Tells me they are worried.

Fair grades. The future looks promising for the Red Sox. The outfield should be stellar. Pitching behind Crochet looks promising. And catching should be solid.

The infield is the question mark. Mayer and Casas have injury histories. Campbell’s future is cloudy. And there is no 3rd base pipeline.

Warren’s comment about the last sliver of leverage reminds me of negotiating investments in China in the 90s. I learned that you always had to know where your leverage was, and maintain it, even post negotiation, because our Chinese counterparts would push us there.

All of this is true:

“If it weren’t for double standards, there wouldn’t be any standards at all up here,” said Senator John Kennedy, a Louisiana Republican. “Of course, it’s hypocritical, but Republicans have flip flopped on things, too.”

If I remember the historical numbers, there is a solid correlation between payroll size and making the playoffs. I’m not sure this year is the best example though.

6 of the top 10 spenders made it, but 4 didn’t. And 6 teams outside the top 10 also made it.
Money doesn't buy a World Series trophy.

But it sure seems to buy a ticket to the postseason.

Tonight‘s Red Sox lineup is terrifying, and not in a good way. They have too many guys who can’t hit or are in slumps.

The Red Sox are playing meaningful baseball in September. Been a while. And against the Yankees this weekend. How cool is that?
