Xillia is what I'd recommend! I think most Tales fans pick other games as their favorite, but almost everybody loves Xillia.

Graces has a lot of fans' favorite combat, but the story and characters are like...idk, just middling at best. Tales of Arise is worth considering too, and it has a demo!

The main cast (protagonists and antagonists alike) are so freaking great, I really think you'd find a lot to like if you can get through the mechanical growing pains. By game 3 it is truly so wild to imagine what might've been if that series had found/maintained an audience

This might be totally irrelevant to your taste, BUT if there's an instrument you want to learn, a music theory foundation is inevitably part of the deal. Lessons are a really good way to maintain a habit of it, too. I had piano lessons from 2022-2024 and loved it (I'm mostly CLUELESS in a DAW tho)
