The YouTube share interface shows a text box with a link you can copy to share the video with friends. In the link text, there's a question mark followed by "si=", followed by seemingly random letters. This is a tracking attribute that associates your account with all of the people who click it.

hyperbeat is *everything* i want out of video games. i could feel it soaring up my goty list mid-tutorial. it is aesthetic as hell, deeply introspective, and goofy enough to never let the vibe get weighed down by the gravity of its ideas.

feeling extremely thrilled and grateful to have been able to go to Madeon's debut of Victory Live @ Red Rocks last week. i could write a whole essay about this, but for now i'll say that i'm truly captivated by this new era
Hugo stands on a blackened stage, lit only by an on-screen spotlight. Floating in the air high above Hugo is "Spikey," the cool, ominous, spike-headed guitarist of the band "Victory." The "hypercolor" aesthetic of Madeon's "Good Faith" album washes over the stage in psychedelic splendor. Visuals of rainbow-colored liquid metal flow across the screen during the euphoric chorus of a mashup of "Miracle" and "No Fear No More." The narrative climax of the show was titled "Hugo 2," according to the set list. An illusory copy of Hugo appears opposite the stage of the real Hugo, with music and visuals that bounce back and forth between them with palpable tension. The sequence was underscored by the words "You can only trust yourself." appearing on screen by an unreliable narrator. "Creation Rock" at the Red Rocks Amphitheater was lit with a majestic red glow against a midnight blue sky. I think when you're in this place, you never really want to leave.

for comparison, here's what I came up with for this year and how that's going. 2 completions, 3 DNFs, and ~2 more BIG games left that I am not sure I'll finish. that's fine! expecting next year will be similar.

(sadly I'm still blocked from playing SSX & CV64 for logistical reasons!)

The 10th game in the series handily earns a place in my favorites! I love that its leads are each miles underfoot on their own path, struggling to bridge the gap between where they are and the heights of their ideals. Their frustration, sorrow, and growth alike are sooo earned

thought this would be fun: since we're about halfway through the year, here's a vague teaser of my favorite games so far. whole lotta red and blue!
On Backloggd, Jack has a list of his "Favorite Games of 2025." There are 6 games included, and their cover art has been heavily pixelated to almost complete illegibility. The first game is deep, blood red. The second game is a pure black background, with some sort of white title or logo in the middle. The third game's art is red on the top half, and white on the bottom half, with a few blue pixels in the middle. The fourth game seems to show a blue sky and an earthy brown landscape. The fifth game is a mess of blues, with a few brown pixels in the center. The sixth game is a puddle of deep, dark blues.
