figured out the issue. there were no core info files, so the cores were unusable. not that it mattered in the end considering genesis plus gx runs poorly on og 3ds
i feel like tearing my hair out. i'm trying to run genesis plus gx wide on my og 3ds and the roms i'm trying to use aren't being detected. it's hard to search for similar issues because google keeps bringing up stuff about 3ds roms not appearing. i hate it

i love the way kitakami is designed in the teal mask dlc, stuff like the crystal pool and the place where ogerpon lives really stood out to me. i'd feel bad for anyone who didn't get to see those places in-game, same with area zero in the base game which is such a standout in a barren open world
