We investigated the microbiome of the polychaete Lanice conchilega. We identified Endozoicomonas as a key component of the microbiome, which is subject to seasonal changes.

A hydrothermal vent on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Hot, mineral-rich fluids are distributed throughout the ocean via the dispersion cloud, known as the plume. Why are you passionate about your research topic? There is still so much unknown to be discovered in deep-sea research and especially in my field, lipid and metabolite research, that the explorer's heart is burning! We know that the samples are unique and offer insights into a completely foreign world that we want to explore. We need to understand what makes marine ecosystems resilient - also to be able to assess how we can best protect the oceans.
