Browsing through an old Sports Argus from Feb ‘61, I was intrigued by this ad. Although my dad absolutely loved wrestling (oddly the only sport I remember him liking) & he’d often take me to watch wrestling on a Thursday evening at Digbeth Civic Hall, I’d never heard of this venue before

In March 1957 the Birmingham Mail and Sports Argus produced separate souvenir editions to celebrate the fact WBA, Blues and Villa had all reached the FA Cup semi-finals

This Norman Edwards cartoon appeared in the Sports Argus to celebrate WBA securing promotion in the 1948/49 season.

The scrapbook actually belongs to one of Ronnie Allen’s relatives and I thank her for giving permission to share these photos with you all

I just love this WBA photo (taken from the brilliant book on Derek Kevan written by Laurie Rampling)

A 20 minute snowstorm at the Hawthorns during a midweek league game v Notts County in April 1975. WBA won 4-1.
I’ve heard it said that statistically we’re more likely to get snow at Easter than at Christmas!

During my lifetime WBA have certainly experienced the highs and lows of the FA Cup!
How great was the Sports Argus btw!!

A good friend of mine gave me me a bundle of old WBA related press cuttings today, for which I’m extremely grateful. I’ll share some photos over time with you fellow Baggies. The first is a preview of the Albion experience from around 1998 and from, I think, the Sunderland Echo

Thank you to my sons Daniel and Adam for a wonderful Christmas present 💙🤍

If it’s an original it’s genuinely incredible!
Full reproduction copies were included in the programme v Southampton on 27 September 1980. I still have one!

We hadn’t visited the Robin in Bilston for a while so it was great to see it so full last night!
Go on, be honest, ABBA are you guilty pleasure aren’t they 😂

WBA 2 RFC Bruges 0

Albion had lost the “Battle of Bruges” first leg 3-1. Asa Hartford, then just 17, scored in Bruge.
Asa and Bomber scored at the Hawthorns to see the Baggies through on away goals

Checking in at the Hawthorns last night for the Johnny Giles evening and the first former player I see is Eddie Gray! Very pleasantly surprised!! The first FA cup final I remember watching was in 1970 (Chelsea v Leeds) and both Giles & Gray played
