Why do you think UK dealerships pushed private leasing? There is never a last payment (unless there is no car). PCP is a confidence trick to make you believe you might one day make a last payment.
Dear car dealership: buying a new car will never feel as good as making that last car payment feels. You can stop marketing to me for a while.

Just Google Takeouting my Photos for backup purposes, haven't done a full backup in an age. Due to the odd way they do the backup, Google has doubled the size of my backup (1x photos, 1x photos per album).

On the other hand a terabyte of data downloaded over a home Internet connection is feasible.🤯

I've just discovered Black Friday hasn't happened yet. Who knew?

The Good Life is 50 years ago.

The humour is cheesy, but the programme is watchable and relatable.

If we wound back from '75 to '25 we'd be watching Charlie Chaplin & Buster Keaton (as indeed we did) which was another world.

The evolution of culture seems to be slowing.

Is #football the British disease?

Football fans apparently consume enormous amounts of time on football, over 20 hours a week. That also implies a significant expenditure to watch at home (Sky subs) or pub (beer fines).

Along with the health implications, can we afford this addiction?

There's a context that doesn't translate across the Pond.

In USA, promotion of violence for political ends is part of the (ab)normal discourse. In the context of Jan 6th (an attempt at violent overthrow) Proud Boys etc., Kirk promoted gun violence and racism.

Americans are allowed to be equivocal.

Oldbury robber on the local news "had a Birmingham accent."

Which begs the question, is just to suggest he was from the West Midlands area or is it helpfully pointing out he wasn't local?

Well, having popped into the bank, that W H Smith rebrand is stunningly underwhelming and, to me. associated with shoes

Let's replace an iconic name with an anonymous name and keep everything else the same. That'll drive footfall.

A police officer friend had a team building trip to London, and being of Asian descent had a couple of unpleasant experiences before she returned to her job - dealing with a young drunk driver who had killed her pregnant sister and baby and broke her neck. Any flag-shaggers volunteering for her job?

No room on the pavement.✅

Ah, use the bike lane.❌

Plenty of other places to use. Centre reservation, roundabout which already has advertising on it.

Talking to someone in Windermere, had a big "Ahah!" moment.

They said it was impossible for the livestock to cause the pollution, but any releases from treatment didn't account for it.

So where is the gap?

Solihull is littered with EngerLund flags at half mast on lampposts.

I shall be complaining to the Council about the abuse of public property.

Anyone good at quoting appropriate bylaws or laws I can add to my complaint?

Complaining to the SRA is refreshingly straightforward, especially when the subject of the complaint kindly puts their incompetence in writing. Let's see if the result is as satisfactory.

(Long story short, a conveyancer doesn't see any problem buying with no title guarantee).

Mrs S just got back from buying a steak & kidney pie for tonight's dinner, and she sat down at 1pm to fill in forms for Saturday's holiday in Coniston... on the 29th.🤔🤯

Fortunately we had started packing, and we're on the road in 15 minutes. Arrived 30 minutes before evening meal.

Pedantically, it should be assisted pedalling bikes - APBs, AP-bikes.

Pedal-assist could suggest something like a moped where the pedalling is used to assist the motor.

I moved in 1st Jan 2016.

Since then, the fact that my predecessor, who was an engineer, only used one screw so the door bell swung around annoyed me intensely.

Of course, nobody believed it worked.

Today, after nine & a half years, I finally fixed it.
