Yeah iirc the PS5 uses a unified memory architecture, which would have been cool to see here too.

If it leads to games scaling better that’s awesome but by modern standards 8gb is a little anemic. What I would have liked to have seen is a shared memory architecture like what’s in AMD’s Strix Halo machines, but that might not be practical at the price point valve is shooting for, not sure

My only concern is the 8gb of VRAM, otherwise yeah it’s hard to bet against Valve

Still a very very well made remake, it’s beautiful and the music is nice (even if there aren’t many songs), it just can’t escape being a remake of a game from 1986

I think a lot of the issues could be solved by tuning boss HP or damage down a bit, a lot of fights devolve into spamming the counter move an letting bosses basically kill themselves

There are defensive items that do help a lot and there’s something to be said for the “difficulty” in fights revolving around equipment choice rather than execution but idk man

Having a one person party means the action economy in a turn based battle system is totally skewed against you which could be fun but the enemies do so much damage you spend a lot of time healing
