Birdie has been not interested in her hay pellet mash lately, I think because she realizes it’s just hay which she has 24/7. Not ideal because I need to get her supplements into her. Turns out the secret is just dumping it in someone else’s bucket 😒 then she’ll lick it clean

IMO as long as you aren’t being a dick to the customer service worker I think it’s ok to be a little bit of a Karen to a large online retailer if they aren’t being overly helpful to right a wrong that they created 😌

O’Malley was going mach 10 in the field while it was raining and wiped out. Not limping so continued on with his farrier appointment. Definitely sore on RH because he was a little uncomfy standing on it while getting his feet done. Vet and both farrier say otherwise not overly concerning and not to-

He’s old, arthritic, has terrible teeth, regularly needs his butt scrubbed, and is a picky eater… but he’s also so gentle, patient, thoughtful, and a wonderful soul. I wish I knew him in his youth but I’m honored to know him in his golden years 💛

Let’s just say having a senior with FWS in the Midwest winters is not for the weak. I am however very thankful to have such a good patient in Lefty.

I can’t remember who suggested stabilized rice bran for my 30 yo gelding who used to refuse his meals but whoever it was thank you because that man has cleaned his plate every day since I introduced it and it has been a GAME CHANGER for him holding his weight

Moved the hay tubs to just outside the shelters and tucked B into her most waterproof set since she’s the one that is most likely to stand outside in nasty weather. Fingers crossed that we’re far north enough to just get snow and not that nasty rain/ice mixture🤞

We’re supposed to get a nasty ice storm tonight and this is one of the occasions where I wish I had a true 4 stall barn to tuck the ponies into so I knew everyone would be fully cozy and safe. A new stall barn is in the 5 year plan but I want it nowww 😫

I just got asked to be in a wedding that’s going to be on a Friesian farm in upstate NY.. I’ve been to/been in 101 weddings at my big age of 29 but I’m actually stoked about this one

I swear 90% of the posts in any backyard chicken FB page is just people sharing lamenting predators and sharing photos of their massacred, shredded chickens. Why people feel so compelled to make their trauma everyone else’s problem, I will never understand 🥴

We’re having gale force winds and it’s supposed to dip down to around 0 overnight so my high-metabolism homies are snuggled into their heavies meanwhile porkchop 1 and 2 are naked because frankly they could stand to burn some extra calories

Last night a couple came out to buy some stools from us (FB marketplace) and they kept making snotty comments about how remote we are and asking “how do we get out of here!!” and comments about there probably being serial killers and it was literally SO icky and unfunny like get the f out of here😒

During am chores I turned on the hydrant and the water was BLACK. I was spiraling thinking the absolute worst but Google told me it was likely a build up of iron and manganese and it was reacting to the oxygen and turning it black. I let it run awhile and all seems back to normal now but whew lawd
