I am still not my broken key. I am still not in Delaware. Of other facts, I am less sure

I usually block strangers who follow me and seem kinda empty, like if they follow over 10K people

You are ABSOLUTELY NOT going to regret listening to this bird:
A male rock ptarmigan (Lagopus muta) in winter plumage.

Ptarmigan is from Gaelic 'tarmachan' meaning "croaker". The p- was added when people mistakenly assumed it was a Greek word.

A bird forever warning people: "A werewolf!" (just in case of werewolves).

“Virginia F. W. Thomas, a White real estate entrepreneur, inherited and purchased land in this area early in the 20th century. She sold home lots without restrictive racial covenants, despite their common use then. By about 1950, many Black middle-class families lived between Madison…”

Why do men need an exclusive vision of virtue? Why don’t they want a universal, ungendered ideal of a good life? Why won’t they share in that striving with us?

Three public housing stops today w/PHAR - some of you may remember the tiny orange kitten from July. I got to see him again today - he’s very sweet and friendly! Kids at all three stops were excited about sketch pads, picture, & chapter books, along with new socks, hairbrushes, and hand sanitizer 😊

When you float rent on credit cards, a good system would help you stay solvent so you can continue to be a part of the system.

We live in a system that isn't good.

Every landlord + bank I've known is set up so you must at best pay an extra fee and often also borrow at brutal, punishing interest

a better future is possible if we believe it is possible and we make it possible. society was not always like this. it has changed before and it will change again. we can make it change for the better.

I saw someone somehow manage to get pulled away from a swarm of cops trying to grab and piled on top of them, pulled away and disappeared into the crowd so quickly that the cop in charge said, baffled to another cop, “How’d he get away??”

Still wild to me that companies got together and lied about a mass shoplifting epidemic and fundamentally changed things in all stores so that it’s worse for everyone, and then we found out they lied, and no one fucking did anything about it, and this is just life now

Yes! This is the way.
Yes, & also:

Write down ALL your fun ideas and keep em in one place (notes app, notebook, word doc, etc). Including the ones you end up *not* using for your story.

Refer to it next time you get writer’s/artist’s block. You’ll find a perfect use for each idea eventually, be it now or 5 yrs from now
WRITING TIP, something simple but it catches many of us out: if you have a great/fun idea for your story, *use it now*.

Don’t save your ideas for some nebulous other story you might write tomorrow. I promise you’ll have more.

Break your story’s status quo. Go a step further. Use the big idea.

but they're not inherent features of *labour.* They're features of *exploitation* and a society which uses those to force you into and keep you from escaping exploitation, in order to profit from it.

So is religious valorisation of that immiseration.

And so is genAI.

See, the thing is, "genAI has me extolling the virtues of work like some kind of Protestant" is not expressing anything paradoxical, only the appearance of one arising from a confusion of thought.

*Labour itself* is not immiserating. *Impoverishment, violence, disablement, and precarity* are—

I hadn't seen this before last week. Finally had a chance to show it to the big Elton fan in my life.

Good news: she had never seen it before either and laughed and laughed. "I would have hated this when I was a kid."

Bad news: now we both have the song stuck in our head and it is not going away.
There have been many attempts at lampooning Elton John over the years, but the brilliance in Neil Innes' approach from RUTLAND WEEKEND TELEVISION is to emulate Elton's musicianship while gently ribbing the oft-times endearingly flowery/nonsensical nature of Bernie Taupin's lyrics...

THIS

It saves a tremendous amount of overhead (money) and time (money) and complications (people who are eligible dropping out because they can't prove they are), but mostly it forecloses an extremely common form of fiscal parental abuse.
Periodically I see people justifying means-testing to ensure The Rich don't get stuff for free when they can afford it.

I see the logic, but we can just tax them more.

Plus, the BIGGEST thing not means-testing solves is

*deep breath*

IT STOPS RICH PEOPLE FINANCIALLY-ABUSING THEIR KIDS ANYMORE.

The weirdest online arguments I've been in are a tie between the woman who thought you could grow enough corn in an apartment closet to feed yourself and the guy who said me and my "pack of harpies" would be crucified along I-95 by the coming fascist regime for disliking Thoreau.
Far and away the weirdest online dispute I got into was with someone who strongly disagreed with my belief that there will never be time travel because we haven’t heard of anyone doing it. If it became possible it would become so common that we would have experienced them already.
One of the weirdest online arguments I had was with a hardline Israeli right winger who insisted modern Egyptians were not descended from the ancient Egyptians because the Arabs had genocided the whole population after conquest for being pagans

NEW: Churches in Charlotte are hosting trainings on how to response to ICE agents — with *hundreds* filling pews.

At one training, a child led those gathered in "This Little Light of Mine" — but changed the words to “All around Border Patrol, I’m gonna let it shine" religionnews.com/2025/11/20/a...
As ICE descends on Charlotte, faith leaders draw on other cities' actions to aid immigrants
(RNS) — As many as 500 people, a mix of clergy and other volunteers, have appeared at the training sessions on how to counter ICE.
