Aspiring wargamer from Finland. 28mm Oldhammer and Napoleonic projects. Movies, music, comics, architecture, football, TTRPGs, Glorantha. Father of three teenagers.
Finished the @brigadegames.bsky.social French ADC’s tonight! The uniform research for these two was pretty challenging, but ADC’s seemed to have quite a bit of freedom when it came to their uniforms anyway.

Also WIP: a pair of ADC’s to be used as a Sharp Practice deployment marker. Wonderful figures sculpted by @hicksy.bsky.social from @brigadegames.bsky.social. Base colours painted with acrylic colours, next stop: oil washes.

A couple of WIP shots after a three-month hobby hiatus. It’s great to be painting again!
The Perry 4-pounder avant-train doesn’t have any parts for connecting the front pair of horses to anything…

The steel sheet is quite slippery and a bit of sanding of the bottom of the horse bases prevents from sliding around too much.

PVA glue, DAS clay, more glue and aquarium sand are used to cover the bases of the horses.
The sabot base has small strips of styrene on the edges. Edges are covered with whatever covers them and sand is glued on top.

The steel rectangle is glued to the plastic base, the horses are glued to their bases and the 5 mm magnets are glued in the holes. I used two 3 mm magnets on the previous dragoons but they don’t really feel quite strong enough.

First I cut a 100 x 60 mm plastic base and a slightly smaller steel rectangle. The horses will be mounted on 20 x 50 mm bases with 6 mm holes punched in places where the integral bases of the horses will cover the holes.

Here’s how I make sabot bases for my #sharppractice cavalry. I use 1 mm styrene sheet, thin steel plate and neodymium magnets.

Also two cows by Warlord Games. I like oil paints for large surfaces, but they give a bit of a shine which the camera & lighting accentuates.

My first finished figures after a two year break in painting - quite a relief to get something finally done! I’m slowly building a Napoleonic Sharp Practice project. Wagon by Perry Miniatures, escorted by dragoons by @hicksy.bsky.social.
Painted with acrylics and oils.
