Today's Newfoundland and Labrador art share:
"Blackbird" (2014) 20" X 16" acrylic on canvas by Reilly Fitzgerald.
When I painted it I thought, "Wow, this turned out so well; it reflects my style and real aspects of my life-it should sell fairly quickly."
Eleven years later ...(lol)

🚨 My new piece: increasingly, vaccine hesitancy tied to political identity www.thestar.com/opinion/cont... via @thestar.com

Vaccines are a wedge issue, exploited by politicians to garner votes, by political commentators to build brands and by online influencers to get clicks.

On measles and vaccines, Canada can’t keep ignoring the elephant in the room
Study after study has shown that political affiliation is one of the single strongest predictors of vaccination status.

I'm old enough to remember when the proponents for TMX being built, saying it would create long term good paying jobs. How is that going? Since May 2024 there have been THOUSANDS of jobs lost in Alberta oil/gas. However, RECORD profits for oil/gas. SO you want another pipeline huh?

This is not true

Gone are the days when O&G needed Albertan workers & paid them well

Automation has stolen those jobs

& the UCP don't care

Don't know how those journalists in the budget lock up do it. The federal budget is 493 pages, it's dry, and execpt for the odd graph, it's mostly in black and white. It's a slog of a read & I primarily just bookmark paragraphs to which I will return later. To crush it & report on it is something.

This government manages to find new lows.
The UCP attack on teachers gets worse, as more details emerge.
Two things heard today:
1. Schools have been told to take teacher attendance and report it to the government every single day.
(Smith is MIA, but that’s different)
2. Teachers are only paid for about 200 contracted days per year (1/3)
