Bleu Rose 🌹 and Ruby haven’t a great time

Together, they form a perfect hiking party 🎊
Bleu, on the left, is proudly leading the charge with his “I’m absolutely winning this race, even if no one else knows we’re racing” grin. His tongue is hanging out like a victory flag he’s about to plant on the nearest pinecone. Rose, in the middle, has committed fully to the art form. Her tongue is so exuberantly out that it looks like she’s trying to air-dry her entire enthusiasm. She’s the overachiever of the trio—determined to show the forest what peak panting performance really looks like. Ruby, on the right, brings the distinguished “I am composed… but also extremely sweaty” tongue. She’s keeping it classy, but she’s clearly thinking, “If these two keep up this energy, I’m going to need a snack break. Or a union rep.”

Halfway up the narrow switchback trail to Quartz Lake in Glacier I found this perfect granite boulder to rest on..

Its surface is mottled with lichen—soft grays, pale greens, and the faint lavender tint that Glacier’s ancient rocks sometimes hold—each patch a small chronicle of seasons passing. On yesterday’s walk with the puppies Rose 🌹 found her candidate for #ThickTrunkTuesday … actually she was waiting for the tenants to return..
“I’ve been guarding this fancy fir-tree apartment for ages—at least seven seconds , which is forever in dog years. The tenants—probably squirrels, woodpeckers, or some shady pine marten—are nowhere to be found. ‘Hello? Anyone home? Rent’s due! I’m protecting this prime woodland real estate. Because if anyone’s moving in, it’s happening under my supervision… preferably after I sniff everything first.”
