"Plenary authority" is not a term you just use by accident: Miller's been looking for a way to make Trump - and by extension himself as Trump's puppet-master - into an absolute dictator.

It wasn't that he said the quiet part loud, it's that he said the quiet part *early*.

It's very hard to believe that this officer (suspended or not) was openly espousing these views and supporting these organizations without the awareness of his colleagues and superiors.

Good work from HARRC, but this is yet another disappointing blow to the public trust in HPS.

HARRC Hamilton Anti-Racism Resource Centre HARRC confirms vehicle with Diagalon decal is registered to a suspending Hamilton Police Services Member HARRC is calling on the Hamilton Police Services Board to commission an independent investigation into a complaint relating to a vehicle displaying a Diagolon decal, a known extremist hate symbol, parked outside Central Station and linked to a Hamilton Police Service member. HARRC first raised this issue in December 2024, filing a formal complaint with the Professional Standards Branch, citing concerns about public safety and potential affiliation with hate groups. Despite follow-up correspondence and a referral to the Inspector General of Policing, no resolution has been provided. The urgency of this matter has grown following recent media reports that Constable Renato Greco was suspended after posting extremist content online. HARRCs inquiries confirmed the vehicle in question is registered to the suspended officer. Given the serious nature of the concerns previously raised by HARRC, the escalation of hate incidents in our community, and the growing presence of white nationalist "active clubs" in Hamilton, we believe there is now an urgent need for an independent civilian investigation.

It's an ill wind that blows no good: Having no more bourbon, I have begun my coast-to-coast exploration of Canadian whiskey.

I don't go through whiskey nearly as fast these days, but I still indulge occasionally.

Sadly, except for one top-shelf bottle tucked away against word of a certain funeral, this is the last of my favorite bourbon, maybe for a very long time.

I've seen a number of examples lately, including Meta trying to shut down a long-standing Facebook group called "Canadians United Against Hate" because of several posts referencing the face that Canadian hate groups have been emboldened by the Trump regime.
A message from the Canadians United Against Hate Facebook group: "WE NEED THE HELP OF OUR SUPPORTERS Please read to the bottom. We have been notified by Meta that they will remove our public Facebook page for allegedly "violating Meta's trademark policies" if we did not contact them immediately. This notice comes as a total shock and we are challenging it, given that we were never given previous notice about any sorts of violations. This threat to remove the presence of Canadians United Against Hate from Facebook, if it happens, will eliminate eight years of materials, resources, and content we have shared about fighting hate. So if there is anything which we have posted which you shared we suggest that you save it directly to your device or it will be lost forever if this page disappears. The silencing of the group's founder and this threat to remove this group's presence from Facebook has never happened before and the only explanation that makes sense is that it is happening in reaction to our very vocal public statements against Donald Trump and his threats against Canada. If this is being done in response to our posts about Donald Trump by using some fabricated allegation about "violating trademark policies" then it shows that this platform and its founder are in league with a criminal fascist. Facebook is used the world over and it is more a public utility now than it is a private social media platform. It is an essential form of communication for billions of people. But the fact that voices can be silenced by a billionaire oligarch because those voices are critical of the fascist leader of a country that is threatening the world means no one is safe from the censorship of the Facebook AI. So to all who have become part of this community WE NEED YOUR HELP. Use Facebook's "Give feedback to Facebook" option and the "Help us improve Facebook" tab by expressing your opposition to the action it has threatened to take and help keep us alive."

Another discrete object - a handmade ceramic inkwell in a 12th century style, made by a potter friend of mine from the Society for Creative Anachronism.

I've never actually used it for ink, but it lives on my desktop and is usually filled with toothpicks. It also makes a nice oversized shot glass.

I've had Barnburner recommended to be as an Ontario-sourced bourbon-barrel-aged whiskey.

Distilled and aged in Oakville. I'm looking forward to trying it.

Let's knock down these stupid interprovincial trade barriers and get more Canadian liquor on Canadian bar-shelves!

Another discrete object - a Baccyflap. Made of bakelite in the 1930s in England by the Wunub company, this disc-shaped object opens up to hold about an ounce of pipe tobacco.

I bought this antique mostly out of curiosity, and it is a fascinating object to hold and use.

While the OPP fully respects the rights of Canadians to participate in lawful, peaceful and safe demonstrations, slow-moving traffic resulting from a protest on a major highway can result in serious collisions and is a danger to the public. Slow-rolling traffic on the highway is also illegal. The Criminal Code includes a section that states “no one has the right to block or disrupt traffic on public highways.” The Highway Traffic Act also prohibits dangerously or unnecessarily slow driving. Even if someone isn’t charged during a protest, charges can be laid later.
