Again, we can't say it out loud just yet. But this Supreme Court majority is illegitimate.

At this point, my operating assumption is that all legacy media editors and owners are weird sex pests and/or pedophiles until proven otherwise.
there’s an elite sickos class solidarity story about how the kind of people who should have been reporting on things like Epstein are also weird sex pests

Contrast - what have you seen about this since the week it happened?

it's still insane that republicans are actually just a bunch of rich thugs who love to rape kids. Also insane how much of a self-censoring fact this is.
These are the kinds of parties you see in fiction and you think can't be real but no, apparently they are very real and just as skeevy as you can imagine.

You don't hate the media enough
Can we circle back to the part where the NY Times never disclosed that they have incriminating information on Donald Trump from sent by Epstein that's been sitting on their email servers for nearly a decade?
Stuff like this makes me wonder why there hasn't been any reporting about Trump having affairs during his presidencies

They're treating Trump illegally firing federal employees like it's leverage, not a criminal act.

I truly don’t know how you look at the past week and THEN decide THIS is an appropriate — let alone the right — response.
Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

i think fundamentally the story of 2024 and the reaction to this admin is a bunch of people's whose entire lives are predicated on stability necessary for liberal democratic capitalism to function standing in a circle holding hands chanting "worse things aren't possible"
I will go to my deathbed, which god willing will be in like seven decades, absolutely hating these people for their sheer hubris and decadence. We had the world, and they are risking it all because they can't see past the bridge of their nose shoved up their ass
The thing that's astounding is they don't seem to understand how what they're exactly playing at, their cowardice actually increases their personal risk! Their entire being is predicted on the stability and order that they are choosing to compromise!

Sure Gerrymandering doesn’t go far enough, since Republicans can still vote, but it’s a good first step
Gerrymandering is bad actually

And anyone, even governors, who are proposing this are playing a dangerous game that’ll further undermine democracy and further the race to the bottom of fascism

If some random BLM activist in 2020 said “kill all white people tbh” then there would still be columns in The Atlantic about how it was a mistake for Joe Biden to have made that the official Democratic Party policy.

But we all sorta expect Trump advisors to promote genocide so hey no big deal.
Good to know one of the U.S. President's main influencers on national security policy is calling for actual genocide (65 mil is the total Latino population of the U.S.)

We're so used to being deskilled. Why learn to cook when you've got a microwave. Why learn to sew when you can just buy fast fashion. Why learn anything, when computer can do it for you? Cuz it benefits capital for you to be stupid and helpless, that's why.
I gotta say I find a lot of AI discourse around higher ed very confusing. "if ChatGPT can write your essays is college even worth it?" did people think math teachers were assigning problem sets because *they* couldn't figure out the answers?

Assassinations and bombing plots against Democrats just aren’t as newsworthy as a Democrat proposing a pilot program of city-run grocery stores, sorry.
This is 100% true, just as the press spent ZERO time on the attempted mass assassination of the entirety of democratic leadership through pipe bombs just a few years ago. It’s literally never even discussed! A MAGA terrorist tried to kill all of the leading dems!
I can't tell if it's because I'm too NYC focused but does it feel like the news cycle spent more time crashing out on the fact that NYC picked a brown Muslim dude as is primary candidate then it did on a right wing extremist who shot 2 Minnesota legislators killing one, her husband and dog?
