If you see me on here it's probably because I'm avoiding homework. But also I like a lot of things and to talk about them.
Tonight I am thankful that NA beer can michelada. It's nice to drink a ridiculous tourist drink sometimes.

Healthcare should not be for profit! I have really good insurance & we already jump through a lot of hoops. The price has increased over the years & we almost lost most of our healthcare team due to a dispute with insurance carrier & our healthcare system, which is run by my /1

I was wondering like many what in the world business ICE has with Charlotte. I should have guessed, none other than the racist dictatorial North Carolina GOP is behind it.
“When the 8 African American sheriffs took over the largest counties in North Carolina, it became a threat to the good ol’ boy system,” says the sheriff of Charlotte. These new sheriffs broke ties with ICE.

But GOP lawmakers cracked down this week, overbidding the governor’s veto to adopt this law:
North Carolina GOP Is Cracking Down on the Black Sheriffs Who Stood Up to ICE
Boosted by new supermajorities, Republicans are closing in on legislation to mandate more collaboration with ICE and preempt local policies hard-won by immigrants’ rights advocates.

Some abled parents of disabled people are the most violent ableists. They use their children as tools to demonstrate their heroism in shouldering the burden of taking care of a disabled person, think they’re incapable of ableism, and say the experience of a caretaker is the same as being disabled.

I read almost entirely digital these days. Last year my partner got me a Kobo Libra Colour, which is nice. If I read digital comics, though, it's on my ipad still. I also love to listen to non-fiction audiobooks. Bonus if they are read by the author.
Let's talk about reading. Do you prefer physical books, audiobooks, Kindle/e-reader or some combination of one or more of the aforementioned formats?

Please note: This is a non-ableist, judgment free zone, so please don't knock people who don't consume books the same way you do.

Every decade, we hear "the kids can't read or write!"

Interventions that don't work are proposed. Those that do work are ignored: reducing class sizes, making kids & families feel safe at school and welcome, becoming a community resource.

When their expensive reform fails, they yell at us again.

Made the Quincy's Tavern mushroom and gnocchi soup tonight. (With bonus broccoli that needed to get used.) Whooo. That's a beautiful, filling soup. Low energy make if you use presliced onions and mushrooms.

Ah yes. He's focused on... what exactly? He could've pivoted to a veteran's talking point like he usually does
On a call with reporters just now, U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet ducked a question about whether Sen. Schumer should stay on as minority leader: “That’s not where I’m focused today.”

I finally got around to making this tonight. Delicious. Used pre sliced squash and assembly went pretty smoothly. Also we felt 4/5 stars fancy eating it.
This pasta bake is savory fall brilliance. Everything is tossed raw into a springform and what emerges is resplendent: layers of tender squash and spinach with noodles, burnished to a snatch-able crisp on top, the aroma of toasted cheese everywhere.

Whoa -- Sen. Durbin went to up Leader Thune during the vote last night to tell him that on the shutdown vote and ACA promise that "8 of us are sticking our neck out that you're going to keep your word. I hope you will. He said 'I assure you I will,'" Durbin says just now
